IMPORTANT: to make the module insensitive to possible bitrate peaks, leave a rather large gap after having
monitored the peaks (approx. at least 1 free Mbit/s per each inserted channel).
IMPORTANT: To keep the system immune from bitrate overflow, keep the bitrate lower than the maximum threshold
defined according to the used modulation settings (refer to the tables shown before). Remember that the high
definition programs transmitted with dynamic bitrate can have transmission peaks of up to 20 Mbit/s; therefore,
the installer must make sure to have monitored the bitrate peaks carefully during the programming as well as get
informed about the transmission modes of the channels to be distributed.
When the channel list updating is in progress, the module does not respond to the TPE commands.
The indicated values refer to the current transmission conditions of the channel in SD. Changes are possible due
to the technological development.
In the event of overflow, the new algorithm implemented in this module does not directly eliminate the last
programme of the list, but it does check to see if the total bit rate decreases and the potential overflow alarm
is withdrawn. During this status (overflow alarm not active), the red LED does not flash quickly; instead, the
image of the last programme of the list shows the mosaic effect. Only if the total bit rate of the list's previous
programmes increases to such a point that there is no space to enter the last programme will the overflow alarm
be activated.
The following is a summarizing table of a few useful suggestions for the diagnosis and solution of possible module
problems.
Problem
Red LED always ON
Audio/video output
missing
Freezing output signal
Not available channel list
In the output channel list,
all the channels set haven't
been set before
It's impossible to insert
another program in the ou-
tput channel list.
The transponder is not
detected
10. TROUBLESHOOTING
Explanation
General malfunction
RF input signal trouble
Input wrong setting
RF input signal too low
Overflow occurred
The updating of the input chan-
nel list is in manual mode
The maximum limit of available
bitrate was exceeded and an
overflow alarm took place (the
red LED flashes rapidly)
The maximum number of chan-
nels supported by the module
was reached
The symbol rate of the trans-
ponder DVB-S2 is too high.
Transponder symbol rate out of
specified values
Contact FRACARRO technical support.
Check the aerial connection.
Check the input settings.
Check the RF signal level using a field
Check that the available bit rate peak is at
Carry out the manual update of the channel
list by means of the proper TPE menu.
Reset the overflow alarm flag and, before
continuing with the programming, check,
from the output channel list, which channel
caused the alarm.
The maximum number of channels is 32.
Eliminate as many channels as you want
from the output channel list and add other
channels
Check that the transponder to hook is in
Check that the symbol rate of the trans-
ponder to be hooked up is within the speci-
fications : DVB-S: 2 ÷ 40 MSy/s
