5. Operation

5.1. Inserting/replacing the batteries

The scale is operated using two 1.5 V LR03/R03/AAA batteries.
 Open the battery compartment cover on the underside of the appliance by
pressing the locking tab in the direction of the cover and
then folding it outwards.
 Ensure the correct polarity of the batteries. This is displayed
in the battery compartment.
 Replace the battery compartment cover and press down un-
til it clicks into place on the battery compartment.
 Only use new batteries.
 Do not expose an appliance containing batteries to direct heat or sunlight. For
example, do not store it on a radiator.
Ensure you use the batteries properly and follow the safety advice!

5.2. Using the scale

Press the
button briefly to switch on the scale.
 Wait until the scale has adjusted to 0.
 Now place the object to be weighed onto the scale.
 The weight will appear on the display.
If this appears in the display, the scale is overloaded. Remove some
weight from the scale immediately otherwise lasting damage may
occur.

5.3. Calibrating the scale

If the object to be weighed cannot be placed directly onto the scale, e.g. flour or
sugar, then you can use an appropriate container.
In order to ascertain the correct weight, you must tare the scale. To do so, proceed
as follows:
 Switch the scale on.
 Place the container on the scale.
 Wait until the display shows the weight of the bowl and then press the
button.
 The scale is tared. You can now enter the food to be weighed in the bowl and
weigh it.
