• Turn the MODE dial (16) clockwise to switch on the metal detector. Move the dial to the next position to enable
"VLF" mode.
• Turn the VOLUME dial (13) clockwise (by approximately one third).
• Ensure that the battery test switch (14) is in the "OPERATE" position.
• Hold the search probe (1) 3-5 cm above the ground in a representative position with underground and overground
interference (e.g. metals) and observe the analogue display (21).
• If the pointer moves to the right into the "Non-ferrous" range, this indicates that the ground does not contain much
iron. Move the GROUND (7) anticlockwise to compensate for this. If the pointer moves to the left into the "Ferrous"
range, this indicates that the ground is ferrous. Turn the dial clockwise to offset interference from the natural iron
content.
• Lift the detection probe (1) approximately 50 cm above the ground and keep it away from metals and overground
sources of interference (e.g. electric tools).
• Press the push button (9) to reset the pointer to the zero position.
• Repeat the above steps until the pointer stays in the zero position when the search probe (1) is 3-5 cm above the
ground in a representative position. The pointer should always remain in or next to the zero position.
After configuring the ground settings, do not move the GROUND dial (7) until you have finished searching
for metals on the corresponding surface. Do not change the settings when you are searching on the same
surface. When you move to a surface with different characteristics, repeat the above steps to change the
ground settings.
g) Setting the discrimination - DISCRIMINATION
The metal detector can be used to determine different types of metals. "TR1" mode locates all types of metals. Always
start your search in this mode. After determining the approximate location of the metal. move the MODE dial (16) to
"TR2" to determine the specific metal type. Follow the steps below:
• Move the DISCRIMINATION dial (15) to "TR1" mode (12 to 3 o'clock) to detect all types of metals.
• The metal detector will beep and the pointer on the analogue display (21) will move clockwise when a metal is
detected.
• "TR2" mode can be used to determine the specific metal type. Use the DISCRIMINATION dial (15) to set the
discrimination threshold for different metal types. Turn the dial clockwise to fine tune the discrimination setting (e.g.
to distinguish between aluminium and gold).
In both modes, the reaction of the metal detector depends on the depth, angle and size of the detected
object. To distinguish between different types of metals, the corresponding search parameters (e.g. angle
and depth) must be the same for the next search attempt ("TR2" for fine-tuning). However, when you switch
to "TR2" mode for fine-tuning, the pointer on the analogue display (21) will point to a different position, even
when the conditions are identical.
• In "TR1" mode, the control dial is approximately in the middle. Moving the dial to the right in "TR1" mode makes
the detection probe (1) distinguish better between metals, but also makes the metal detector detect smaller objects
such as tin foil, aluminium parts, coins and rings.
• When you move to a new search area, the discrimination setting must be reset by moving the DISCRIMINATION
dial (15) to the central position.
