PCI SCSI host adapters are automatically configured by the PCI-BIOS, which
means that the host adapter is assigned a free interrupt and a free I/O address; this
setting cannot be modified by your device manager.
After restarting the system the SCSI host adapter as well as the SCSI devices
connected to it are listed in the Windows device manager. If Windows has already
recognized your SCSI host adapter automatically and installed a corresponding
driver, we nevertheless recommend using the included original drivers. To do this,
open the "system" symbol of the control panel and select the device manager. Proceed
by opening the symbol for the installed SCSI host adapter. Then select the heading
"driver". Now you can activate the original drivers via the options "other drivers" or
"driver update".

V. Installation under Windows 2000, XP

1. General Information

Windows 2000 has got a standardized SCSI interface which enables hardware
specific adaptations to the various host adaptors. This is done using the "DC29160.SYS"
driver from the "\Win2000" or "\WINXP" directories of your installation disk. The
Windows 2000/XP installation programme is controlled by the "DC29160.INF" file
(also located in the "\WIN2000" or "\WINXP" directories).
The device drivers necessary for operating CDROM or movable disk drives etc.
have already been integrated in Windows 2000/XP, so that installation is relatively
easy due to the automated procedure initiated by Windows 2000/XP. Windows 2000/
XP identifies your SCSI host adapter automatically and initialises a suitable standard
Windows driver. To install the included driver or a more up-to-date version downloaded
from the internet, open the "system" symbol from the control panel and select the
heading "hardware".
Then click on "device manager" and select the SCSI host adapter under the
heading SCSI and RAID controllers. Under the heading "driver" select the option
"driver update" which activates the assistant to update device drivers. Follow the
instructions on the screen; the files necessary for installation are located in the
"\WIN2000" or "\WINXP" directories of your installation disk. After specifying the
respective drive and directory, a window appears specifying the exact type of your
SCSI host adapter.
