5. Installation of Other SCSI Devices
Your DC-29160 U3W package includes drivers for the different types of mass
storage devices. There is, however, a large number of special SCSI devices which
require additional software, such as streamers, scanners or CD-writers.
Basically, your DC-29160 U3W supports all kinds of SCSI peripheral devices for
which the manufacturer supplies software based on the CAM or ASPI standards, or
if the software needed to operate the respective device supports the CAM or ASPI
standards. Please note that the use of single ended devices causes the complete SCSI
bus to switch to single ended mode.
For instance, all current back up programmes support the ASPI interface and
therefore cause no trouble when operated with your SCSI host adapter.
IV. Installation under Windows 95, 98, ME

1. General Information

Windows 95 / 98 and ME offer a standardized SCSI interface which enables
hardware specific adaptations to the various SCSI host adapters. This is carried out
by the "DC29160.MPD" driver in the "\WIN95-98" directory of your installation disk.
The file "DC29160.INF" (also found in the "\WIN95-98" directory) controls the
Windows 95 / Windows 98 installation programme.
The device drivers required for operating CDROM or removable disk drives etc.
have already been integrated into Windows, so that installation is relatively easy via
the automatic procedure prescribed by Windows 95. The SCSI host adapter is
automatically recognized after booting up. To install, select "driver on floppy disk of
hardware manufacturer" from the dialog box "new hardware found".
Afterwards, select
"Browse"; the
necessary for installation
are located in the "\WIN95-
98" directory of your
installation disk. After
specifying
corresponding drive and
directory, a window
appears specifying the
exact type of your host
adapter.
