III. Installation Under DOS / Windows 3.1.
1. Driver-based Installation of SCSI Devices
Driver-based installation of SCSI devices is activated by addressing the drivers
required for it in the CONFIG.SYS file. The basis for installing the various SCSI
devices is the driver DC29160.SYS which supplies the ASPI and CAM interfaces for
further installation of device drivers. Therefore DC29160.SYS must be addressed
before the other drivers.
If you wish to use the DC-29160 U3W SCSI host adapter in combination with the
Microsoft EMM386 driver, please make sure the EMM386 has got a version number
of 4.49 or higher; older versions of the EMM386 are not completely PCI compatible
and cause system collapse in case of 32 bit I/O access. Version 4.49 of the EMM386
has been enclosed with MS-DOS since version 6.22.

1.1. Summary of DC29160.SYS Command Line Switches

During the installation of DC29160.SYS further settings can be specified by
various parameters.
"/PORT=xxx" In the case of simultaneous operation of several SCSI host adapters
this parameter indicates the adapter number (starting with 0). In this
case, the driver must be addressed by indicating the adapter number
for every host adapter. If only one SCSI host adapter is operated, this
parameter does not require specification.
/PS=x This parameter directs the power save function and requires the
specification of the maximum duration of inactivity (from 1 to 60
minutes). If this values is exceeded, the connected hard disks /
removable disks and CD-ROM drives are automatically switched off.
In case of renewed access, the respective drives are automatically
rebooted. If this parameter is not specified, this function is turned off.
The DC29160.SYS driver displays during installation a list of selected settings
and of connected devices on the screen. After addressing DC29160.SYS the device
drivers can be installed accordingly.
