The next step is to glue the fin to the fuselage. Remove the covering film from the
joint surfaces of the fuselage and the fin, as shown in the photo.
Apply white glue (UHU Wood Glue Express) to the joint surfaces and place the fin on
the fuselage: the tongue at the front should fit in the slot in the fuselage former, and
the underside of the fin should rest flat on the fuselage. Tape the fin in place to
prevent it shifting while the glue is hardening.
Attach the undercarriage unit to the fuselage using the screws supplied. Apply a drop
of UHU schraubensicher (thread-lock fluid) to the screws to prevent them working
loose.
Locate the fairing which fits between the undercarriage unit and the fuselage, trim it
to fit neatly, then glue it in place using UHU Alleskleber.
Mark the position of the axle holes on the wheel spats, as shown in the photo.
Position the plywood doublers so that the holes are centred on the opening, and
about 12 mm above the bottom edge of the spats.
Use a 4 mm Ø bit to drill right through the inside and outside of the wheel spats,
using the marked point as a guide. The holes must be drilled centrally relative to the
marked points.
Glue the plywood doublers to the inside of the wheel spats using cyano, taking care
to produce a handed pair of spats (different left and right).
Clamp the ply doublers in place while the glue is drying, using the wheel axles to
position them accurately.
Open up the holes on the inside of the wheel spats to 8 mm Ø to allow the wheel
axles to be fitted, and saw the holes down to the bottom to form open-ended slots.
Assemble the wheels and spats on the wheel axles and mark the correct length of
the axles, as shown in the photo. Remove the parts and cut the axles to the marked
length.
The wheels and wheel spats can now be mounted on the undercarriage unit as
shown; apply UHU schraubensicher to the nuts to prevent them working loose.
Press the rubber grommets and tubular metal spacers into the mounting lugs of the
servos.
