6. cutting metals

• Use a fine tooth blade for metal.
• Be aware that sawing metal will take much more time than sawing
wood.
• When cutting thin metal, clamp a piece of scrap wood to the back
surface of the workpiece and cut through this sandwich
• Apply a thin film of oil along the intended line of cut for easier operation
and longer blade life. For cutting aluminum, kerosene is preferred.

7. riPPing / circular cutting(Figure 5 & 6)
• Ripping and circular cutting without a pencil line are easily done with
the rip fence/circular guide(not included).
• Insert the fence and tighten the fence fixing bolt.
• When ripping, position as shown in figure 5, set the cross bar at the
desired distance. The cross bar should be down and against the straight
edge of the workpiece.
• When circular cutting, draw a circle and drive a finishing nail in the
center of circle, attach fence to saw with cross bar upside, put the fence
on the nail with selected hole and squeeze the trigger, slowly push the
saw forward, place small wedges in the cut when near the end of the
cut.
8. Plunge cutting (Figure 7)
• Plunge cutting is useful and time-saving in making rough openings in
softer materials. It is not necessary to drill a hole for an inside or pocket
cut.
• Draw lines for the opening, hold the saw firmly, tilt it forward so that the
tip of the saw foot rests on the work, but with the blade well clear of the
work.
• Start the motor, and then very gradually lower the blade. When it
touches, continue pressing down on the tip of the saw foot slowly
pivoting the saw like a hinge until the blade cuts through and the foot
rests flat on the work. Then saw ahead on the line of cut line. We do not
recommend plunge cutting with a scroll blade .
• To make sharp corners, cut up to the corner, then back up slightly
before rounding the corner. After the opening is complete, go back to
each corner and cut it from the opposite direction to square it off. Do not
try to plunge cut into hard materials such as steel.
