4 Setup and Cable Connections

4.1 Standard System

The standard system consists of one
®
L.U.C.A.S 1000 subwoofer and two satellites.
Feed the signal from your mixer (master left/right,
line out, or a similar circuit) to the balanced Input
sockets of the L.U.C.A.S ® 1000 using a cable equipped
with standard XLR microphone connectors or
1/4" plugs. Make sure the XLR connectors have
the following pin assignments:
1= Ground, 2= +, 3= -
Mono Setup
Next, use loudspeaker cables to connect the
satellites of the L.U.C.A.S ® 1000 system to the
Satellite Left and Satellite Right outputs.
Caution: The Satellite Left and Satellite Right outputs
are designed for a nominal impedance of four ohms.
Under no circumstances may the impedance dip
below this value, or else the power amp may suffer
serious damage!
Stereo Setup
Caution: Connect the power cable only after you have
made absolutely sure that the local mains voltage
matches the voltage specified on the device. If you
connect the system to the wrong mains voltage, you
may destroy the electronic components of the
®
L.U.C.A.S 1000 system.
4.2 Dual L.U.C.A.S ® 1000 System
This configuration consists of two L.U.C.A.S
systems. A dual L.U.C.A.S ® 1000 system can be em-
ployed to cover a wider area. Two satellites on each
side are available to provide sound reinforcement for
larger venues. An HK AUDIO ® dual yoke is well suited
to the task of mounting the satellites on a single mo-
unting pole (see L.U.C.A.S ® 1000 Accessories).
Connect this system like you would a standard system.
Connect the output of the mixer to the L.U.C.A.S
system's Input Left, for example. Then take a short
XLR cable and connect one end of it to the Through
Left output and the other end to Input Right. This
will feed both satellite speakers the same signal.
