Instruction for use
These instructions or use of SEKUR filters must be carefully read, understood and followed by the user in order to avoid potential
misuse and prevent exposure to contaminants (gas, vapours and dusts) in the workplace. Respirator filters are disposable and
protect against harmful dusts and/or gases under the specific conditions described in this manual. Therefore, it is essential that the
choice of filter is made by trained personnel aware of the conditions of use, maintenance and storage procedure of the filter itself.
Damaged filters cannot be used and must be immediately replaced. Technical alterations of SEKUR filters are not allowed. The
manufacturer will not accept liability for any damage caused by failure to abide by the aforementioned provisions. The general
conditions of warranty, sale and delivery by D.P.I. s.r.l. have not been mentioned in this manual. The safety standards and
regulations related to use of respiratory protection devices issued by competent national and European Union authorities must be
strictly followed.
Purpose
A filtering respirator is composed of a facepiece (full face mask, half-mask, mouthpiece) connected to a filter. Filtering respirators
remove harmful gases, vapours and particles from the breathable air.
Filters are devices in cathegory III according to UE Regulation 2016/425.
Condition of use
Filters can be used when:
the concentration of oxygen present in the environment is at least 17% by volume;
there are not oxygen enriched atmospheres or in potentially explosive areas;
type, concentration and characteristics of the toxic substance must be known and the toxic substance itself must not be
odourless (it must be perceived trough the senses: i.e. taste and smell). Limitations of use of the filters, related to the
concentration of the contaminant in the atmosphere, must be strictly observed;
filtering respirators cannot be used in closed unventilated places such as tanks, wells, underground passages, containers,
silos, etc.
CAUTION: Armful gases, which are heavier than the air, when stagnating low are more dangerous.
special instructions for the use and duration of filters protecting against odourless gases and vapours must be followed;
particle filters for protection against radioactive materials, microorganism and active biochemical substances must be used
once only (these filters are disposable).
The use of a self-contained breathing apparatus is needed also when one of the above-mentioned conditions makes the use of
filtering respirators unsafe (especially with oxygen deficiency or high concentration of harmful substance), the operator must use
an apparatus that allows complete isolation from surrounding contaminated atmosphere (self-contained breathing
apparatus).
Please be aware of danger deriving by use of filter in the presence of flames or splashes of molten metals because
charcoal contained in the filter may take fire or set toxic substances free.
Avoid contact with ketones, esters, hydrocarbons, acids and strong bases, high pressure fluids, liquids.
Marking an filter range
SEKUR filters are differentiated by the main scope and class of the filters according with the EN standards in force. The marking
provides this kind of information as follows:
Gas filter
Offer protection against harmful gases and vapours, but they do not protect against
particles and aerosols;
