11 Maintenance

11.1 Hydraulic oil

HLP22 is used as the hydraulic oil in the hydraulic power packs. This is subject to the natural aging of oil. As
the hydraulic oil ages, the lubrication properties of the oil change too. Aging depends on contamination,
temperature and operating time.
– Contamination stems either from the environment and enters the oil during coupling or arises in the
hydraulic components during operation.
– Due to the temperature change, the water from the moisture in the air can accumulate in the tank. Acids
also form in the oil/water mixture. These acids attack metallic surfaces.
– Over the course of time, the base oil and the additives this contains will decay. The oil no longer
functions and then needs to be changed.
The effects can lead to the premature wearing of pumps and valves or even to the complete failure of these.
We recommend cleaning the oil regularly with a fine filter in order to improve the oil purity.

11.2 Regular checks

Check the hydraulic fluid fill-level from time to time and top it off if necessary.
The oil should be filtered twice per year.

11.3 Oil change

We recommend that hydraulic fluid be changed every 4000 operating hours, at the latest however after
10 years.
Clean or rinse the tank too in case of severe contamination. Use a lint free cleaning cloth only when doing
this!
When draining the oil, make sure that the drain pan is large enough.
