LINEAR 5 LTS A 1.1
4 Alignment
Single
The LINEAR 5 LTS A's vertical
directivity is +5°/–25°; its
horizontal directivity is 60°.
You can adjust the speakers'
horizontal alignment to
minimize refl ections off walls
and turn the cabinets to focus
the sound on the audience
area.
You do not need to tilt the
LINEAR 5 LTS A along its
vertical axis when placing it on
a speaker stand or mounting
pole. With the benefi t of
the MCT horn, its vertical
directivity is much like that of
a properly curved and aligned
component array so that
its sound energy is focused
directly on the area you wish
to cover.
The following applies when the speaker is deployed in an upright position
(the front panel is at a 90° angle to the base):
• Although the mounting collar is set to 0°, the LTS A's vertical dispersion
covers the +5° to -25° range.
• The vertical acoustic central axis lies approximately at -3°.
• This asymmetrical directivity drastically reduces ceiling refl ections.
• The speaker's elevation determines its reach. Generally speaking, if the
center of the speaker is set to a height of between 2.50 m and 2.80 m, the
central axis of the sonic image will reach the audience's ears at a distance
of 15.50 m to 21 m, assuming that these people are 1.70 m tall.
• The high-frequency level drops off in the near fi eld, where audience
members are right in front of the PA, in the same ratio as in the far fi eld.
This way, sound is dispersed very uniformly (see illustration below).
• The notches on the L SUB 4000 A are there to hold the LINEAR 5 LTS A
in place when stacking units. The aforementioned reference values also
apply to stacked setups.
• We recommend that you use the optional tilt bracket to align a fl own
speaker horizontally and vertically. You can achieve greater coverage and
distribute sound over a larger area by fl ying speakers.

Head Stack
With the benefi t of the
MCT horn's asymmetrical
directivity, you can set up
30°
two LINEAR 5 LTS A units in
an ‚acoustically correct' head
stack. To do this, rotate the
60°
second speaker 180° so that
its top panel sits on the fi rst
unit's top panel. (The top
unit is upside down, with the
front grille of both speakers
facing forward). The cabinet's
30°
three feet are arranged
asymmetrically and fi t into
matching notches in the top
panels to keep cabinets from twisting and turning. Use the two sliding
latches on the left and right panels to secure the stack.

We recommend the following setup when you want to stack units:
Place a head stack consisting of two LINEAR 5 LTS A units on the top
subwoofer in a three L SUB 4000 A subwoofer stack. Make sure it is
centered.
Heads up! Secure the head stack to prevent it from tipping, for example,
with a threaded M20 bolt (35 mm diameter) that is no shorter than 50
–25°
mm. Screw it into the M20 insert on the subwoofer and place the lower
LINEAR 5 LTS A's mounting collar on it.

You can also secure the head
stack in the usual way using
ratchet straps.
