RTS REQUIRED FOR INST LL TION (NOT SUPPLIED)
1. Bucket or similar container for preparing your saltwater.
2. 30 litres of saltwater correctly prepared according to the instructions supplied with your chosen synthetic salt, and at
the correct temperature. Please Note: the heater is preset to 25
water to the correct temperature, this may take several hours.
USEFULTIP: We thoroughly recommend saltwater prepared with Tropic Marin synthetic sea salt (see your local
stockist for details and preparation advice).
USEFULTIP: The hydrometer supplied is used to determine and ensure you achieve the correct salinity levels in your
MicroHabitat by measuring the specific gravity (SG) of the water. The green zone on the scale of the hydrometer
represents the approximate acceptable salinity level for most tropical marine aquarium livestock, which at a water
temperature of 25°C/77°F, relates to an optimum specific gravity (SG) range from 1.022 to 1.025. It is however
important that you check the exact requirements of your livestock before preparing your saltwater and using this
instrument.

Hydrometer - Instructions for Use
a. Gently lower the hydrometer into the water. The hydrometer must float freely, without being in contact with any
surface when a reading is taken, and must be perfectly clean.
b. The reading is taken at the level at which the hydrometer breaks the surface of the water,
whilst being careful not to include the meniscus effect (see diagram).
c. If the instrument reading is lower than that required for your livestock or outside the
optimum specific gravity (SG) range (e.g 1.020 instead of 1.022) you will need to DD
S LT. If the instrument reading is higher (e.g. 1.027 instead of 1.022) you will need to DD
FRESH W TER. Please
salinity in the tank on an on-going basis, you should always make the required changes in salinity in a separate
container (e.g a bucket) away from the MicroHabitat and changes must be made slowly. Un-mixed salt must NEVER
be added directly to the MicroHabitat. Frequent testing of the salinity is recommended so as to avoid the need for
large changes in salinity.
d. Rinse the hydrometer thoroughly in fresh water after use, dry and store safely.
