INST LL TION
1.
Position the MicroHabitat on a level surface which is capable of supporting the
weight of the tank and in a location which is not exposed to low temperatures,
direct sunlight or increased heat levels i.e. NOT by a radiator.
Please Note: When full of water the MicroHabitat will weigh approximately 30 kg.
C UTION: Direct sunlight on the MicroHabitat will lead to excessive algae
growth and could result in the tank overheating.
2. Position the air pump (19) next to the MicroHabitat, ensuring that it is located in a
suitable position to allow it to be easily connected to the air adjustment valve
(16b) on the protein skimmer (16) and accessed for maintenance.
Please Note: The air pump (19) must not be placed on a carpeted surface as this
will affect the performance and output of the pump and could cause operating
problems. The air pump vibrates and therefore should NOT be positioned close
to other items (e.g placed against the side of the tank) as noise may be produced.
3. Carefully cut the air tubing (20) to the correct length for connecting the air pump
to the air inlet adjustment valve (16b) on the protein skimmer without any kinks.
4.
ttach one end of the air tubing to the air outlet (19a) on the air pump.
5.
ttach the other end of the air tubing to the air adjustment valve (16b) on the
protein skimmer (see photo).
6.
t a convenient position between the air pump (19) and the air inlet adjustment
valve (16b) on the protein skimmer (if possible, ideally close to the air inlet
adjustment valve (16b) on the skimmer) make a cut in the air tubing and install the
non return valve (21) (see photo).
Please Note: When installing the non return valve (21) ensure that it is fitted
correctly, as shown. Failure to do so will result in damage to the air pump.
7. If you are planning to add aquarium decor e.g. live rock or replica live rock,
position these as required.
Please Note: Ensure all aquarium decor is correctly prepared before introducing
to the MicroHabitat.
8. Carefully pour your selected aquarium substrate into the MicroHabitat (see
photo). TMC Oolitic Sand or gravel is recommended (see your local TMC stockist
for details).
9. Place a small cup, flat plate or something similar on top of the substrate (to
prevent any substrate from being displaced) and carefully pour the prepared
saltwater up to the indicated 'Water Level' (
Please Note: The prepared salt water must be at the correct temperature for
the MicroHabitat before adding to the tank.
Please Note: Due to various factors such as evaporation, the water level in the
MicroHabitat will change. Ensure that the water level in the tank, the protein
skimmer chamber (7) and filtration chamber (8) is always closely monitored. s
water evaporates, the salinity level in the tank will also change so ensure that the
specific gravity (SG) of the tank is measured using the hydrometer (17) supplied,
and the tank is regularly topped up with fresh or saltwater as necessary to reach
the correct specific gravity (SG) and the required water level.
Please Note: When topping up the tank with new saltwater, the saltwater must
always be prepared correctly and according to the instructions supplied with your
chosen synthetic salt and any water added to the MicroHabitat must be at the
correct temperature.
C UTION: Livestock should NOT be introduced to the MicroHabitat until
water parameters have been tested and it is safe to do so. Regularly test the
water parameters with reliable test kits and consult your local retailer for further
advice if necessary.
10. In a convenient location attach and secure the micro thermometer (12).
11.
ttach and secure the MicroHabitat lid (2) to the tank using the securing clips supplied.
12. Position the LED lighting system (1) in a central location on the back wall of the
filtration chamber (8) and carefully tighten the securing screws until fully secure
(see photo). For full information on the LED lighting system and mounting bracket
please refer to the separate instructions enclosed.
