Replacement of picture tube

Mounting the top cover on the new DVD unit
When a replacement of a picture tube is required it is necessary to use the tools
made specially for this operation.
Squeeze in the tools between the lower part of the picture frame and the lower
side of the picture tube.
Tighten the screws on the tools to make sure it stays in the right position.
The tools ensure that the distance between the frame and the new picture tube is
kept the same as before. See
Measure the distance between the side of the frame and the side of the picture
tube to be sure that the tube is placed in the middle.
Defl ection PCB, Focus potentiometer and connecting cables are shipped as one
unit, 8014218.
- P194 must be connected to the focus potentiometer. See
If not connected the picture tube will be damaged.
- Placement of 5T1 and P190 on PCB3. See
5T1, Dynamic Focus, RED lead in socket A, marked N.
5T1, Static Focus, BLACK lead in socket B, marked M.
- Perform the following adjustments as described under "Adjustments".
Horisontal centre adjustment, G2 adjustment, Focus adjustment and Geometry
adjustment.
When replacing the DVD chassis (module 998) the top cover of the DVD unit must
be transferred to the new DVD unit. Please follow the procedure below.
- Drive up the clamper by pressing "LOAD". The clamper may be pulled up
manually if needed.
- Remove the upper back cover.
- Remove the ribbon cables from 72P504, 72P505 and 72P508 ( 23).
- Remove the DVD unit by removing two screws (S) ( 23). Make sure the unit does
not fall down when the screws are removed.
- Remove the lead in 76P436 from the DVD unit ( 24).
- When removing the top cover please realize that there are two different versions
of DVD units. Either you have to remove two screws ( 25) or you have to pull out
the top cover around the two snap locks ( 26) helped by a screwdriver ( 27).
- Check that the clamper is sitting in the new DVD unit ( 28). Mount the top cover
on the new DVD unit. Make sure that the steering taps matches the holes ( 29).
