Water is vital for cooling the core bit and removing chips and dust.
1 – Connect the water intake tap to a manual or electric water pump pipe
(references available from Virax).
•
WARNING! The pressure must never exceed 3 bars.
•
Make sure that you use the machine with enough water as you will
damage your motor's gaskets if you work dry.
•
Only use clean water from the network.
2 – Set the speed selector to the required position
3 – Open the tap and start up the machine. Make sure that the water reaches the
core bit segments before you start drilling.
4 – For perfect centring, start gently and avoid forcing during the first 1 centimetre
of drilling.
During drilling, if the speed is too high the drill bit segments will quickly become
blunted.
During drilling, if the speed is reduced and the water which exits is mixed with iron
dust, you have certainly hit a piece of iron: reduce pressure until the speed returns
to normal.
If you want to keep a clean surface, or for drilling in the air, fix the Virax water
collector (V 250 → ref. 050122 / V 350 → ref. 050112), associated with a water
vacuum (reference available from Virax) to the support stand. The water collector is
fixed to the base screw and guarantees clean drilling.
