Mounting and Installation
General
The radio frequency gateway GW-xx-FEM is a device for on-wall installation and serves as bidirectional gateway between the units of a radio frequency
bus system (radio sensors and radio actuator on basis of EnOcean technology) and devices like PC, PLC, and controller systems with RS 232 or
RS 485 interface. All radio telegrams from radio transmitters received faultless by the gateway are packed into a telegram frame and output at
the bus side. All bus telegrams received faultless by the gateway from the bus side are sent out at the radio transmitter side in form of EnOcean
telegrams. In this way, a bidirectional connection between PC ⁄ PLC systems at one side and the radio transmitters and radio signal receivers of
a radio frequency bus system at the other side can be established by the radio frequency gateway. In order to enable a reduction of telegram
occurrences at the bus side to a minimum, the gateway is provided with a filter. When the filter is activated, only telegrams received from those
radio transmitters are output by the gateway at the bus side, of which the transmitter IDs have been learned in by the filter.
RS 232
Principle
GW2 - RS 232- FEM radio frequency gateways are connected via screw terminals to the 232 bus cable. The bus cable must be twisted-pair,
preferably shielded T-wire cable 1 x 4 x 0.8 mm
At one RS 232 bus cable, always only two devices, i. e. radio frequency gateways, plus the master in form of a PC or PLC system for example
can be connected.
The bus cable should never exceed a maximum length of 15 m.
The gateway can be supplied by DC power of 10 - 30 V DC via terminals 1 and 2.
