ATTENTION:
1. Always handle fuel with maximum care.
2. Refuel outdoors using a clean funnel to prevent spilling.
Wipe up any spilled petrol.
3. Refuel only after turning the engine off and when engine
is cold. Do not fill beyond 15 mm from top of fuel tank as fuel
expands when hot.
4. When filling tank, keep far away from open flames and
sparks and DO NOT smoke!
5. Do not mix oil with gasoline. (See engine manual for fur-
ther informations on oil and fuel).
Blade inspection
The frequency of blade inspection depends on the working con-
ditions.
1. Make sure that the engine is not running and the high tension
wire is disconnected from the spark plug.
2. Drain petrol from the fuel tank.
3. Tilt the mower to the right side (operator point of view), with-
out rotating the blade.
4. Carefully examine the blade:
a) If the cutting edge has become rounded it must be sharp-
ened.
b) Check where the flat and curved parts meet and, if there are
any cracks or signs of wear replace the blade immediately.
ATTENTION: A worn or cracked blade can easily break during
use or pieces may break off, resulting in serious injury to your-
self or a bystander.
Sharpening or replacing the cutter blade
1. Turn the engine off and disconnect the high tension wire from
the spark plug.
2. Drain fuel from the fuel tank.
3. Tip mower on its right side (operator point of view). Avoid ro-
tating the blade when the mower is tipped up because start-
ing problems may result.
4. While keeping the blade in place with the hand, fully loosen
the fixture bolt using a wrench.
5. Remove the blade in order to sharpen or replace it.
6. Using a flat file, sharpen the top side of blade, maintaining the
original cutting angle. The blade will remain balanced if the
same amount of material is removed from both cutting edges.
7. Check the balance of the blade by using a blade balancer. An
unbalanced blade will lean on its heavier side. If the blade is
not balanced file more metal off the cutting edge of the heavy
side and check the balance again.
8. Install a sharp, balanced blade, being careful to reassemble all
component in the correct order (fig. 9).
9. Tighten the blade bolt to 5,5 Kgm.
NOTE: A blade balancer may be purchased at any good hard-
ware shop.
ATTENTION: In order to obtain best possible cutting results, we
recommend that you replace the blade annually in addition to
sharpening it whenever necessary.
Cleaning the mower deck
To assure optimum performance, keep the underside of the mow-
er deck and the grass discharge area clean.
1. Check that the engine has stopped and the high tension wire
is disconnected from the spark plug.

2. Drain the fuel tank.
3. Tip the mower on its right side. Avoid rotating the blade when
the mower is tipped up as starting problems may result.
4. Remove dirt and grass clippings from the underside of the
deck. Scrape away any remaining dirt with a handtool, being
careful not to injure yourself with the blade or sharp edges.
5. When completed, return the mower to its upright position.
Traction cable adjustment
After the first hours of use it is possible that the traction handle
cable loosens and it becomes difficult to use.
If this happens, adjust the cable regulator as follows.
Loosen nuts on cable register (fig. 10). It is now possible to adjust
traction cable play.
The traction must engage when there is a distance of 30 mm. be-
tween handle and traction handle.
Lubrication (fig. 11)
After every 25 operating hours, front and rear wheels must be lu-
bricated.
1. Wipe grease fittings with clean rags.
2. Install grease gun onto fittings and gently apply 2 or 3 pumps
of Lithium N. 2.
Excess pressure may damage seals.
3. In order to lubricate wheel bearings, remove fixing screws and
apply 2 or 3 pumps of Lithium N. 2 using greaser supplied.
Preparing mower for storage (more than a month).
1. Drain fuel from the tank.
2. Start engine and let it run until it stops, due to lack of fuel.
ATTENTION:
All petrol must be expended to prevent gum-like varnish depos-
its from forming in the carburetor, fuel line and fuel tank. Such
deposits, if allowed to form, will cause starting problems and
poor engine performance.
3. Remove the high tension wire from the spark plug and clean
the surrounding area so that dirt cannot penetrate the cylin-
der when the spark plug is removed. Remove the spark plug
and pour a spoonful of 2-cycle oil into the cylinder chamber.
Pull the recoil starter handle slowly to distribute oil on the in-
side of the cylinder. Then install the spark plug and tighten, us-
ing a spanner. Do not install the high tension wire on the spark
plug.
4. Clean the cylinder head cooler fins, external engine parts and
mower deck.
5. Check and tighten all screws, bolts and nuts. If any parts are
damaged, repair or replace them.
Inspect the grassbag. Replace it if it is damaged or worn.
6. Check the condition of the blade and blade bolt; refer to " Blade
inspection".
7. Clean the air filter (see engine manufacturer's manual).
8. Touch-up all chipped paint surfaces.
9. Store the mower in a clean, dry place.
10. Store the mower in a clean, dry place. The handles may be
folded to save space. Cover the mower to protect it and keep it
clean, ready for next season.
NOTE: Before using the mower again, check that the handles are
well installed and all knobs are tightened.
