2 Important SAFETY WARNINGS
and Instructions

2.1 Important Safety Instructions

Warning
!
Use the C3 charger for charging a lead acid,
AGM, WET or GEL battery only. It is not intended
to supply power to a low voltage electrical system
other than in a starter-motor application. Use of
the C3 charger for other purposes may result in
serious injury or property damage.
Warning
!
Do not use this C3 charger for charging dry-cell
or non-rechargeable batteries that are commonly
used in home appliances. These batteries may
burst. Failure to follow this instruction may result
in death, serious injury or property damage.
Warning: Risk of Explosive Gases
!
Follow the safety instructions below, the
instructions published by the battery
manufacturer and the manufacturer of any
equipment you intend to use in the vicinity of the
battery. Review cautionary marking on the charger
or engine. Batteries generate explosive gases.
Failure to follow these instructions may result in
death, serious injury or property damage.
(1) Operate only in a well-ventilated area.
(2) Do not expose charger to rain or snow.
(3) Do not permit flames, sparks or hot
surfaces in the vicinity of operation.
(4) Do not drop metal onto the battery. This
may cause a spark or short a circuit and cause
an explosion.
(5) NEVER smoke or allow a spark or flame in
vicinity of battery or engine.

(6) To reduce risk of electric shock, unplug
charger from outlet before attempting
any maintenance or cleaning. Turning off
controls will not reduce this risk.
(7) Study all battery manufacturer's specific
precautions such as removing or not
removing cell caps while charging and
recommended rates of charger.

2.2 Personal Precautions

Warning
!
Wear complete eye and body protection. Do not
allow battery acid to touch your skin, clothing
or eyes. Failure to follow these instructions may
result in death, burns, blindness or other serious
injury or property damage. Ensure that another
person is available to come to your aid in the event
of an accident. If battery acid comes into contact
with your skin or eyes, immediately wash them with
clean running water for ten (10) minutes and get
medical attention.
Warning
!
Remove all personal metal items such as rings,
bracelets, necklaces and watches when working
with a lead-acid battery. A lead-acid battery can
produce a short-circuit current high enough to weld
a ring or other metal items. Failure to remove such
personal metal items may result in severe burns,
other serious injury or property damage.
Warning
!
Never charge a frozen battery. Charging a frozen
battery may cause battery explosion and may result
in death, burns, blindness or other serious injury
or property damage. Remove the battery from the
vehicle, bring it into a warm room and let it thaw
before charging.
