Adjusting the Flange Focal
Length
The flange focal length is the distance from
the lens mounting plane to the image plane.
If you cannot obtain a precise focus by
turning the focus ring after you have
changed the lens, adjust the flange focal
length as follows.
Once you have adjusted it, readjustment is
not necessary until you change the lens.
When a CS-mount lens is attached
1
If the lens employs the manual
iris adjustment, set the iris fully
open. If the lens employs the
automatic iris adjustment,
illuminate the surroundings so
that the iris becomes fully open.
2
Point the camera to a subject
about 3 m (10 feet) away and
display the shot image on the
monitor screen.
A subject, on which you can observe the
focus condition distinctively, such as
letters, fine patterns, etc. is suitable.
3
Turn the zoom on the lens fully
to telephoto.
4
By observing the monitor
screen, turn the focus ring on
the lens to adjust the focus on
the subject.
5
Turn the zoom on the lens fully
to wide-angle.
6
Loosen the fixing screw using
the supplied hexagonal wrench,
and turn the flange focal length
adjustment ring to adjust the
focus on the same subject used
in step 4.
Do not turn the focus ring on the lens.
