SUPPORT AND TRAINING
All HONEYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS apparatuses are designed to allow maintenance by the users, but that requires
a minimum level of skills and the use of appropriate equipment.
Training courses may be organised on the customer's premises or in our own training establishments.
The full programme of training courses for apparatus maintenance is available on request.
HONEYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS markets an electronic inspection bench to guarantee the quality of the work done.
For more information, please contact the HONEYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS technical assistance department.
LIMIT OF MANUFACTURER'S GUARANTEE
In accordance with HONEYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS specifications, checks and maintenance operations must be
performed by personnel qualified and authorised by HONEYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS. Only original inspection
benches, special tools and spare parts may be used.
The recommendations relating to the frequency of testing and maintenance described in these instructions must be followed. Any
component or sub-assembly which may have been impaired must be replaced, even if it is not required by the HONEYWELL
RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS maintenance policy. In particular, not being submitted to the mandatory maintenance overhaul
does not mean that a component or a sub-assembly does not have to be replaced regularly, according to its wear or impairment.
The owner of the breathing apparatus is responsible to check the complete integrity and proper functioning of his equipment.
The owner of the breathing apparatus is responsible to check the complete integrity and proper functioning of his equipment.
Only apparatuses from HONEYWELL RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS with their cylinders, valves and masks are covered by the
CE configuration certification.
As a result, this guarantee does not cover apparatuses used with components other than those supplied or replaced by HONEYWELL
RESPIRATORY SAFETY PRODUCTS.
OPTIONAL
On request, the FENZY AERIS may be fitted with the option 'Medium pressure flexible hose fitted with a self-sealing inlet connector'.
This hose allows the breathing apparatus to be connected, using the self-sealing quick connector, to a medium pressure source of
breathable air, the minimum flow rate of which must be 500 litres/minute and the pressure must be:
Between 6 and 7.5 bar when the breathing apparatus is fitted with the SA 5000, (Figure 4) or SA 5000 Zenith, (Figure 4).
Between 5 and 8.5 bar when the breathing apparatus is fitted with the AERIS. (Figure 5).
Use
The breathing apparatus fitted with this option is used as follows:
Before and after using the breathing apparatus, check that the inlet connector on the flexible hose is clean; if it is dirty, do not use
the apparatus and contact a specialised breathing apparatus maintenance workshop, the manufacturer or distributor.
Loosen the backplate straps as much as possible.
Put the apparatus on your back and pull the ends of the straps until you feel the apparatus hangs comfortably on the shoulders.
Tighten the backplate belt then the chest strap linking the two straps (if this option is fitted).
Put the breathing mask in place (see instructions for using the breathing mask). (Figure 7a)
Check that the breathing mask is sealed (see instructions for using the breathing mask). (Figure 7b)
Do not open the cylinder valve(s) (Figure 7c)
Connect the medium pressure flexible hose to the source of medium pressure breathable air.
Snap the demand valve onto the Air Klic connector of the respiratory mask (see section on demand valve) (Figure 7e)
The breathing apparatus is ready for use.
After using the breathing apparatus, protect the inlet connector of the flexible hose from dirt using a protective cap.
It is strongly recommended that another person is asked to check the demand valve connection by ensuring, and this is
vital, that the locking devices (Air Klic) is correctly engaged in the groove on the mask connector.
In the event of difficulties breathing due to malfunctioning of the medium pressure air source:
Fully open the cylinder valve(s) (Figure 7c) of the breathing apparatus.
Disconnect the medium pressure hose from the source of medium pressure breathable air.
Leave the place of work when the breathing apparatus alarm starts to sound, at the latest. Assuming that breathable
air consumption by the user is about 40 L/min, he has no more than about 10 minutes to return to a safe area. This
estimate is given for information only; the capacity of the cylinders, place and type of work must be taken into account.
If the user of this breathing apparatus wishes to be re-connected to a suitable source of medium pressure breathable air, it
is essential that the user closes the cylinder valve(s) after being connected.
For detailed instructions for use, upkeep, maintenance, etc. of the breathing apparatus fitted with cylinders, refer to the
appropriate sections of these instructions.
