4.3. MUSIC inputs

These 4 inputs for music sources cannot work simultaneously. You need to select with the
SOURCE control on the front panel which of them you want to listen to on the unit's output (1, 2, 3, 4 or
none of them). They are mixed through its LEVEL control with microphones 1/2/3, if available.
The TONE CONTROL in the MUSIC section acts on the MUSIC input selected.
The volume that the mix between the music source selected and microphones 1/2/3 connected
will be played at will ultimately depend on the OUTPUT VOLUME of the unit.

4.4. EMERGENCY input

This input has been designed to connect a microphone or a pre-recorded file playback system
that will broadcast an announcement or emergency and/or evacuation message on a slot with maximum
priority.
Therefore, this input has a series of special features:
 It supports balanced microphone signals
 It supports balanced line signals (occasionally the distance between the message
playback device and the HMA180 might be high, with a connection of this type ideal for
minimising the effects of noise and interference induced along the wiring between both
devices)
 It has a tone control totally independent of the rest of the device's tone controls
 It has a VOL playback volume control totally independent of the rest of the device's
volume controls
 It has maximum priority: during its operation, it mutes any other sound source selected for
playback, including those of the PAGER, MICROPHONES and MUSIC inputs
The EMERGENCY function can be triggered by automatic detection of the incoming audio signal
level or a change of status of an external contact connected to the EMERG control port in the CONTROL
INPUTS section. Refer to the 10. CONFIGURATION DIAGRAM section for more information on the
configuration options of this function using jumpers.
The EMERGENCY audio input is doubly labelled as MIC4 / LINE5. This is because, if the
EMERGENCY function is not required in an installation, the audio signal connected to this input could be
used as an additional line or microphone input on the device (without taking priority over the others).
Refer to the 10. CONFIGURATION DIAGRAM section for more information on the configuration options
of this function using jumpers.

4.5. INSERT input

The ¼" INSERT stereo jack serves as an insertion point for the use of dynamic processors or
external effects to be inserted in the device's general mixing bus.
A standard cable will be used in these types of connections: The send signal is found on the tip of
the jack and the return on the ring, with both signals having the same grounding
