Atex Directive special instructions

Read the following instructions carefully before proceeding with installation of the appliance.

Installation and start-up

• The delivered appliance must correspond to the item ordered.
• The packaging must be intact.
• The impeller must be able to rotate freely.
• The technical data, according to the ATEX directive and present on the marking (dataplate) must comply with
the category of the installation site.
• The appliance must not be dented and/or deformed.
• The motor must be connected to the mains exclusively by professional qualified personnel. The minimum and
maximum operating environment conditions are:
Environment T: -20° C ÷ +40° C;
Fluid T : -20° C ÷ +40° C;
• After starting up the appliance ensure that there is no noise caused by friction between mobile and static parts;
• Never use C ATEX fans in a production process that deals with the transport of corrosive chemical agents (e.g.
for the petroleum-chemical and chemical sector in general).
• Installation must be performed exclusively by professionally skilled personnel in compliance with the current
edition of standard EN 60079-17. These qualifications must also cover installation of electrical equipment in
potentially explosive atmospheres, where the hazard may be in the form of flammable gases, vapours, mists,
powders, fibres or volatile spinning residue.
• CAUTION: always refer to the data stamped on the voltage and frequency dataplate to ensure correct
connection to the mains. If not specified, a tolerance of +/- 5% on voltage and +/- 1% on frequency is
admissible.
The connection diagrams are normally supplied with the motor, or are stamped onto the terminal board
enclosure; if not present refer to those stated in this instruction booklet.
• The nominal section of the power cables must be suited to the motor power and type of system in which it is
installed.
• After making the connection to the mains and before closing the wiring box, restore the seal to its correct
position. The cover screws must be tightened according to the following parameters:
- thread diameter: 3,8 mm; tightening torque= 1,2 Nm;
- thread diameter: 4,8 mm; tightening torque= 2,0 Nm;
- if a torque wrench is not available, proceed as follows for both thread diameters: 2.8 mm or 4.8 mm; tighten
fully down. After this operation, tighten further by max. quarter of a turn for additional safety.
• The screws and/or nuts used for the electrical connection of the appliance power cables must be tightened fully
down. After this operation, tighten further by max. quarter of a turn for additional safety.

Special conditions of use

A - Connection to the electrical mains
Vortice Serie C Atex appliances are powered by enhanced safety motors, certified to the standards EN 60079-
0 and EN 60079-7, with protection mode "e". Therefore to guarantee electrical coordination in accordance with
the additional provisions of the systems standard EN 60079-14, and conformity with the directive ATEX
2014/34/UE, only inverse-time type overload protection devices must be inserted on the power line, in
compliance with ATEX 2014/34/UE, and according to the following marking: II (2) G/D
