2.2 REPLACE/INSERTION OF SINGLE RECEIVERS
To install the single modules in the headend, you first should cut off the network power from the head-
end to avoid contact with parts under tension. Open the front panel of the headend by using the key
and insert the receivers as per figure 6.
The modules that are inserted can operate in three different modes: stand-alone, master, slave.
The module that is used in stand-alone mode is a completely single digital satellite receiver that is also
independent from the others; therefore, it needs the SAT signal at its own coaxial input. Each receiver
in stand-alone mode can receive a free-to-air signal or a codified signal with the CAM (not supplied), if
the CAM allows it.
Moreover, the module can be set in Master or Slave modes. The Master modules can be connected
to one or more Slave modules with a flat cable (contained in the headend packaging) by permitting the
reception of several encrypted programs of the same transponder with the Master CAM (if the CAM
foresees this operation. Not all on sale CAM versions support the simultaneous decoding of several
channels). The selected transponder is set by programming on the receiver that operates in the Master
mode.
The SAT signal arrives at the Master module input by means of the coaxial cable. The Master mod-
ule demodulates and decrypts the signal of the selected transponder. The signal passes to the Slave
module by way of the flat cable, and the Slave module decrypts and modulates the other channels of
the same transponder in RF. Therefore, the Slave module does not need the SAT signal at its coaxial
input.
Every Master or Slave module can decrypt and modulate a free-to air or codified program (if the CAM
allows it).
The selection of the Master, Slave or stand-alone mode is through the TPE universal programmer; see
the "SETTINGS" menu on page 1.
The default configuration foresees eight modules in the stand-alone mode that are programmed ac-
cording to the default programming on page 5.
For a proper operation in Master/Slave mode, we recommend placing the Master board in first position
followed by the slave boards. Moreover, cut the flat cable in order that no connectors are free.
ATTENTION: do not carry out any direct connection of two modules in the Master mode by
means of the flat cable since they can get damaged permanently.
Figure 1 shows an example of connection of the Master (M) and Slave (S) receivers by means of a flat
cable. In particular, the figure shows two Master receivers with the CAM on board; the two receivers
control and 4 Slave receivers respectively. The flat cable was cut after the third module so that the
signal fluxes of the two Master modules are separate.
3. USER'S INSTRUCTIONS
The headend layout foresees 8 digital receivers to receive free-to-air or encrypted channels, thanks to
the common interface.
Each receiver has a SAT input; it can generate 14/18V, a KHz tone and a DiSEqC 1.0 tone-burst to
control multiswitches, if any, or LNB (max 400mA@14V remote power feed).
The headend is foreseen by an input for mixing the existing TV signals and one RF output with the SAT
signals that are remodulated in VHF and/or UHF band with vestigial modulation (it is possible to set
adjacent output channels).
Figure 10 shows an example of a headend connection to the TV installation. If the TV mixing input is not
used, the CA75F load must be inserted at the end; the load is supplied in the accessories packaging.
At the bottom part of the headend, there is the screw for the connection to the ground electrode of the
antenna installation according to the EN5008-1 regulation, art. 10 (see Fig.1).
Each receiver is equipped with RF regulation of the video (15 dB) and audio signal regular by programming
(see page 0).
It is possible to connect up to 6 headends in one installation (for a maximum of 48 channels) by mixing
the signals and using the TV inputs. See Fig. 1 for an example diagram.
