Electrical connection check list
Check that the following requirements are met:
The electrical leads are protected from high
temperature, vibrations, and collisions.
The power supply line is provided with:
-
a short circuit protection device.
-
A mains isolator switch with a contact
gap of at least 3 mm.
Electrical control panel check-list
NOTICE:
The control panel must match the ratings of the
pump unit. Improper combinations could fail to
guarantee the protection of the motor.
The control panel must protect the motor
against overload and short circuit.
Devices must be installed to protect the
motor from overloads: thermal protection
or thermal overload relay with trip class
10 A + aM fuses (motor start-up), or
motor protection thermal magnetic switch
with start class 10 A.
Short-circuit protection must be installed:
aM fuses (motor start-up), or thermal
magnetic switch with C curve and Icn ≥
4.5 kA, or other similar device.
According to ISO/IEC 80079-37 (clause 6),
safety loop shall be as minimum SIL 1:
equip the electric panel with a dry-running
protection system to which a pressure
switch, a float, probes or other suitable
devices must be connected.
The following devices are recommended
for use on the suction side of the pump:
-
When the liquid is pumped from a
water system, use a pressure switch.
-
When the liquid is pumped from a
storage tank or reservoir, use a float
switch or probes.
When thermal relays are used, relays
that are sensitive to phase failure are
recommended.
Motor check-list
Electrical hazard:
Make sure that the control
panel and any control devices
are suitable for installation in
the selected location. The
regulation in force is the
Directive
137 regarding the safety and
health of personnel who may
be exposed to the risk of
explosive atmospheres.
All motors, which are supplied
with pump or mounted by the
customer's after-sales service,
must have an axially locked
bearing on the right side.

1999/92/EC-ATEX
NOTICE:
Only use dynamically balanced motors
with a half-sized key in the shaft
extension (IEC
normal vibration rate (N).
The mains voltage and frequency must
agree with the specifications on the data
plate.
Refer to the motor manual for power supply
tolerances and electrical connections.

4.3 Install the pump

4.3.1

Mechanical installation

Check the following before installation:
The mounting surface must have set and
must be completely horizontal and even.
Observe the weights indicated.
Install the pump
For examples of horizontal and vertical installations,
see Figure 10 on page 94.
Check that the foundation has been prepared in
accordance with the dimensions given in the outline
drawing/general arrangement drawing.
The pump unit must be fixed to the ground using the
motor fixing system. Shims may be required.
1.
Position the pump set on the foundation and
level it with the help of a spirit level that is
placed on the discharge port. The permissible
deviation is 0.2 mm/m.
2.
Remove the plugs covering the ports.
3.
Align the pump and piping flanges on both sides
of the pump. Check the alignment of the bolts.
4.
Fasten the piping with bolts to the pump. Do not
force the piping into place.
5.
Use
shims
for
necessary.
6.
Tighten the foundation bolts evenly and firmly.
NOTICE:
If the transmission of vibrations can be disturbing,
provide vibration-damping supports between the
pump and the foundation.
4.3.2
Piping checklist
Check that the following are adhered to:
The suction lift line has been laid with a
rising slope, at positive suction head line
with a downward slope towards the pump.
The nominal diameters of the pipelines are
at least equal to the nominal diameters of
the pump ports.
The pipelines have been anchored in close
proximity to the pump and connected without
transmitting any stresses or strains.
