GENERAL INFORMATION

General
These are the mounting instructions for the Novy hood shown on the cover. The user manual is a separate booklet that is
also delivered with this hood. Carefully read these instructions before the installation and commissioning of the hood. It
is recommended to have one or more qualified persons carry out the installation only.
Carefully take the hood from the packaging. Check if all mounting materials have been supplied using the drawings on
page 2.
The hood is to be applied above a cooking plate and/or domino and only intended for household use.
Important before mounting
Page 2 of these mounting instructions show the mounting drawings. Observe the following mounting tips before starting
the mounting activities:
• For easier mounting of the ceiling unit, it is recommended to do this with at least 2 persons.
• Position the electrical socket in such a way that it is behind the ceiling unit.
• Make sure that the ceiling has sufficient load bearing capacity.
• Remove the protective film from the stainless steel parts of the ceiling unit before mounting. Avoid damaging the stain-
less steel.
InTouch
InTouch provides the ability to operate the Novy hood from the Novy InTouch induction hob. The ceiling unit may, as
standard, be combined with InTouch induction hotplates. Check the website for the various induction hob models with
InTouch.
INSTALLATION
Follow the mounting drawings on page 2.
• Make a build-in opening: 1438 mm x 648 mm.
• The minimum mounting height for an electrical or ceramic cooking plate is 600 mm. The minimum mounting height
for a gas or induction cooking plate is 650 mm.
1
• The ceiling unit can be built into plates with a thickness of min. 18 mm to max. 35 mm Do not mount directly into
gypsum board; always make sure there is reinforcement for the tightening of the mounting clamps.
• Install the unit with the controls on the right side for the user.
• Ensure there is an electrical socket close to the unit. It must be possible at all times to disconnect the power supply
from the unit.
• A remote control is supplied with the hood.
Connect the exhaust tube with a hose clamp to the pipe adapter on the hood. Keep in mind the length of the exhaust
tube, so this can still be disassembled easily.
Put the plug into the wall socket. Next, push the ceiling unit upward into the recess by the edges until you hear a firm
2
click. Do not press the bottom plate. The ceiling unit is now suspended from the hooks.
Tighten the 8 clamping screws by hand (see also figure 4) in order to mount the ceiling unit definitively (caution! Do
not over-tighten in gypsum boards). The 8 clamping screws must be fully loosened in order to be able to remove the
unit. The spring clips can fall on the cooking plate work top when dismounting. Therefore, always protect the cooking
3
plate with cardboard or a cloth.
To control external lighting (max. 300W) via the extractor hood remote control, the lighting power cable must be
connected using the supplied connector 864-027. This can then be connected to the connector at the back of the
hood. The ceiling unit should be connected to two Novy façade motors.
4
Install the exhaust duct
For optimum performance of the hood it is important to pay attention to the points given below during the installation.
When using a circular exhaust duct:
• Use smooth, non-flammable pipes with an internal diameter that is equal to the external diameter of the connection
nozzle of the hood. The hood requires an exhaust duct of Ø150 mm. Maximally extend flexible ducts and cut them to
size.
• Do not reduce the exhaust diameter. This will reduce the capacity and increase the noise level.
• When connecting to a short exhaust duct, it may be required to mount a non-return valve to prevent the wind from
blowing in.
• Use a hose clamp or aluminium tape for airtight connections.
• In case of an exhaust pipe through the outside wall, use the outside wall grille.
