6. Operating the Labormat SD

6.1 Filling with water

Open the lid of the device and remove
the flask baskets (optional) and support
plates (55). The water inlet nozzle is
located in the middle of the back wall
of the water tank. The enlarged lower
end of the nozzle marks the maximum
permissible water level.
Important: Never fill the device
above this mark. Overfilling can
cause leaks in the pump system
which in turn causes water to be
discharged.
There are two ways of filling the device:
1. Manual filling
Use a suitable vessel (e. g. bucket) or
water hose to fill the requisite water
6.2 Establishing operational readiness
1. Press the red main switch (14) in
the control panel to activate the power
supply. The pilot light integrated in the
switch lights up indicating operational
readiness of the device.
2. Set the rotary knob (19) on the ther-
mostat (24) to the requisite water tem-
perature.
Important: The Labormat SD pump and
spray function can only be operated as
of an operating temperature of 65 °C
which is indicated by the green pilot
lamp in the control panel (13).

2. Fixed connection
The pressure hose supplied connects
the Labormat SD directly to the water
line (shut-off valve required). Unscrew
the seal nut (39) on the water inlet and
connect the pressure hose securely to
the lock nut. Connect the other end of
the connection hose to the water line
directly via a shut-off valve. Open the
shut-off valve and fill in water as far as
the maximum level. Replace the sup-
port plates (55) and flask baskets in
the device and close the lid (3).
This reduces the risk of functional
defects caused by wax deposits in
the pump housing and the spray sys-
tem. When the pre-set temperature is
reached, the yellow pilot light (17) in
the control panel stays on.
When the water is at the maximum level,
it takes approx. 70–80 minutes to heat
up to 65 °C; it takes 120–130 minutes
to heat up to 95 °C.
In order to avoid delays caused by
the heating phase, the Labormat SD
is fitted with a 24-hour timer (33).
