Before Initial Use

1. Remove any possible fi lms, stickers or transport protection from the device. Never
remove the rating plate and any possible warnings!
2. Before you enjoy your fi rst coffee, we recommend that you fi ll the water tank up to the
max marking with drinking water and perform two cleans without any coffee powder
to remove any possible production residues. To do this, follow the instructions in the
"Setting Up and Connecting the Coffee Machine" and "Making Coffee" chapters.
When the device is fi rst used, a slight odour may be produced. This is normal and
not a device defect.
3. Then pour away the hot water.
4. Wipe down the housing of the coffee machine with a clean, damp cloth. Rinse the
jug (5) and fi lter holder (2) with detergent and clear water.

Setting Up and Connecting the Coffee Machine

PLEASE NOTE!
WARNING – Danger of Injury! Make sure that the connected mains cable does not
present a trip hazard. The mains cable may not hang down from the surface on which
the device is placed in order to prevent the device from being pulled down.
Always set up the device with a clear space at the sides (at least 20 cm) and clear
space above it (at least 30 cm). Do not place the device below kitchen wall units or
similar cupboards. The rising steam could cause damage to them!
Only connect the device to a plug socket that is properly installed and matches the
rating plate of the device. The plug socket must also be readily accessible after con-
nection so that the connection to the mains can quickly be isolated.
Do not use the device with extension cables.
1. Place the coffee machine on the kitchen unit or another fl at, solid, heat-resistant and
splash-proof surface.
2. Fully unwind the mains cable.
3. Insert the mains plug into a plug socket. The time (9) appears on the display (3).

Setting the Time

As soon as the mains plug is plugged into a plug socket, the display (3) shows the
time (9) starting at 12:00. The current time is set as follows:
1. Keep pressing the PROG button (11) until CLOCK is displayed above the time.
2. Use the HOUR button (14) and MIN button (13) to set the current time. To run through
the numbers quickly, hold down the respective button.
3. Press the PROG button again to exit setting mode.
