Proceed first with landing skids assembly. This will be easier as it is only possibe to access the landing
-
gears screws throug the holes in the main gear if you proceed after the main rotor / main gear
assembly.
Do not mistake in the main mast assembly. Look at the small drawing ( top right) for details. The
-
aluminium washer 4 goes UPPER the lower main mast ball bearing support.
For the tail boom assembly please note that the tail boom must be able to go through the tail boom
-
basemount. If it remains locked inside the tail boom basemount, push slightly more until the tail boom
goes totally through the tail boom basemount so that you have 3 / 4 mm of tail boom viewable after
the basemount on the belt pulleys guides side.
Do not tighten the tail boom screws straight away, you can, before assembly, remove the light plastic
-
line in the basemount ( lower side) to allow better tightening, but in that case do not over tighten, you
might bend the frames.
Be very carefull in the belt assembly. The belt must be turned only ¼ turn counterclockwise, not more.
-
We could see much people having made ONE and ¼ turn with the belt. This causes the belt to rip on
itself in the tail boom and causes the belt to generate a lot of static electricity and radio glitches by the
way. And the belt will not last long as well in that case... Typical symptoms is that the belt flat surface
side borders go yellow after a few flight only.
Using a little tape part around the belt will help in sliding it through he tail boom.
-
When fitting the main gear assembly, be sure to have aligned the pulley and reinforcement tube holes
-
together. Take your time for this assembly, it is not hard but it needs attention ( and thread lock !).
Once you will have proceed with the main rotor assembly and tha the retaining rings will be installed
-
( thread lock here as well!) , you can proceed with the belt tension adjustement. For that, there is no
real rule about the tension, as it must be strong enough so the belt does not " jump" on the pulley
teeth on the tail gearbox pulley, and not too strong to allow effort free rotation.
Most of the time, just pull the tail boom to make the belt tensioned, then without tightening the
-
basemount screws, just make the rotor rotate 2 or 3 turns will adjust the belt tension quite correctly.
Just tighten the screws ans check for good alignement of the tail gearbox ( the tail mast must be 90°
compared to the main mast).
The tail boom supports must be mounted with the flat surface looking to the screw head
-
The tail pitch rod can be assembled separately and then will be clipped in the horizontal fin support.
-
On Elite and Pro version, this step is different as the linkage goes through the support and can not be
clipsed after.
Finalize the assembly and check all screws , nuts, and make sure that all the mechanics is slope free
-
but with no hard points. If you can feel hard points, look at the source of the hard point and proceed
with verification. Disasemeble and re assemble if necessary to make sur that the assembly is correct.
The rotor must spin free clockwise ( it has a one way bearing) and the tail rotor must turn on the
correct direction, look at the drawing for reference.
