Note: Do not dispose of batteries in the domestic waste.
Please return used batteries to the relevant collection
points or the shop where they were bought.
Never throw batteries into a fi re.
Headphone Socket
Please use headphones with a 3.5 mm jack, which
should be inserted in the PHONES socket (17). The
loudspeakers are then switched off.
Transport Safety Device, CD Compartment
Open the CD compartment (14) by pulling the lid up-
wards by the tab (11). Before operating the machine for
the fi rst time, remove the transport safety device from
the CD player if it is still in place.
Switching off
The machine is switched off if the function selector
switch (22) is in the TAPE or OFF position and all tape
functions are switched off. Turn the machine off by
turning the on/off switch (21) to „OFF". Then remove the
mains lead.

Listening to the Radio

1. Turn the function selector switch (22) to the TUNER
position.
2. With the band selector switch (16) you can select the
desired frequency band.
UKW (Stereo) = FM ST
UKW
= FM
Medium Wave = AM (Mono).
3. Tune into the desired station using the TUNING
regulator (15).
4. For VHF/FM mode pull out the telescopic antenna
(24) and turn it to improve reception.
5. The stereo control lamp FM/ST (8) only lights up if
you have selected FM stereo and are receiving the
station in stereo quality. If reception is too weak and
there is interference, it is possible that the stereo
control lamp will not light up.
6. Proceed in a similar manner if you wish to receive
MW/AM stations. On this frequency band all pro-
grammes are transmitted only in „mono".

Cassette Operation

Playing Cassettes
1. Push the function selector switch (22) to the TAPE
position.
2. Press the í/
stop/eject button (1e) to open the
cassette compartment (7).
3. Insert a recorded audiocassette into the compart-
ment with the tape opening facing upwards and the
side you wish to listen to facing the front (full spool
to the right). Then close the cassette compartment
again.
4. Press the
playback key (1b) to listen to the tape.
5. With the í/
stop/eject key you can stop playback.
6. Wind the tape forwards or backwards if necessary in
the direction of the arrow keys.

Recording Cassettes
1. Insert an audiocassette with the side on which you
wish to record facing forwards (full reel on the right).
Ensure that the cassette is not copy-protected (the
copy protection tab on the top narrow side of the
cassette must not have been removed).
2. Select the source from which you wish to record with
the function switch (22) and then start playback from
this source if necessary. The sound source which you
are listening to is the one from which the recording is
made. The recording level is controlled automatically.
Any changes to the sound and volume do not affect
the recording.
3. Please press the b record button (1a) (the
playback button is automatically pressed down at
the same time). Recording now begins. All previous
recordings are automatically erased.
4. The recording can be interrupted briefl y using the
II pause key (1f), or stopped by means of the
stop/eject button (1e).

Playing CDs

Proceed as follows in order to listen to a CD
1. Push the function selection switch (22) to the CD
position.
2. Open the CD compartment (14) by pulling the lid up-
wards by the tab (11). The letters „OP" (open) appear
in the display.
3. Insert an audio CD with the printed side facing up-
wards on the central cone. Then close the lid of the
CD compartment (14).
4. The letters „rE" appear in the display (6) and then the
number of tracks. Press the
(10) to listen to the CD.
5. Playback begins automatically with the fi rst track on
the CD. The current track is shown on the display.
6. By lightly pressing either the + / - button (9) you can
jump one track forwards or backwards. If the button
is held down while you are listening to a track you
can search for a particular piece of music
(+ = reverse, - = forwards, only possible during CD
operation
7. In order to remove a CD, please press the
button (2), open the CD compartment and lift the CD
out carefully.
8. Set the volume with the VOLUME control (23).
Always keep the CD deck closed.
Note: If a disc is inserted incorrectly, or no disc is inser-
ted, the symbol „rE" appears in the display.
Description of the CD Buttons
PLAY/PAUSE (10):
You can briefl y interrupt the
playing. The symbol in the display
(6) fl ashes. Press the /II play/
pause button (10) again to continue
playback.
SKIP (9):
By lightly pressing either the SKIP
button you can jump one track
forwards or backwards.
