INSTALLING THE LOWER HANDLE
See Figures 3 - 4.
 Slide the cord retainer over the lower handle and position
in the center top portion of the handle.
 Insert the lower handle ends into the holes in the detatcher
housing with the handle angled back.
 Insert the rubber spacers between the handle and the
detacher housing as shown. The flat side of the spacer
should face the dethatcher housing.
 Insert screw through the handle, spacer, and detacher
housing; tighten securely.
 Repeat on opposite side to secure lower handle in place.
WARNING:
Never install, remove, or adjust any part of the dethatcher
while dethatcher is plugged in or is running. Failure to
stop the motor can cause serious personal injury. Never
operate dethatcher until it is completely assembled.
WARNING:
Do not allow familiarity with this type of product to make you
careless. Remember that a careless fraction of a second is
sufficient to inflict serious injury.
WARNING:
Always wear eye protection with side shields marked to
comply with ANSI Z87.1. Failure to do so could result in
objects being thrown into your eyes resulting in possible
serious injury.
ASSEMBLY
FEATURES
INSTALLING UPPER HANDLE
See Figures 5 - 6.
 Align the holes on the upper handle with the holes in the
lower handle as shown.
NOTICE:
Do not allow the starter cable to become pinched or
trapped when aligning the handles.
 Insert bolt through both handles with the threaded end
facing in.
 Install the handle knob and tighten securely to secure the
bolt in place.
 Repeat on the opposite side to secure the upper handle
in place.
 Route the starter cable through the openings in the cable
clips and install the clips on the handles to secure the
cable in place.

WARNING:
Do not use any attachments or accessories not recom-
mended by the manufacturer of this product. The use of
attachments or accessories not recommended can result
in serious personal injury.
NOTICE:
Before each use, inspect the entire product for damaged,
missing, or loose parts such as screws, nuts, bolts, caps,
etc. Tighten securely all fasteners and caps and do not
operate this product until all missing or damaged parts
