Commissioning
Fixing the saw
A
Risk of personal injury by rocking or tilting
saw!
For a safe operation the saw must be fixed to
a sturdy base.
• A permanently mounted work plate or a work
bench can serve as a base.
• The saw can also – for mobile application – be
screwed to a plywood or wood-core plywood
sheet (500 mm x 500 mm, at least 19 mm thick).
When in use this plywood sheet must then be
secured with G-cramps to a work bench.
1. Drill four holes into the base.
2. Attach the saw with screws to the base.
Dust bag installation
A
Danger!
Dust of certain timber species (e.g. oak,
beech, and ash) can cause cancer when
inhaled:
− Work only with dust bag properly installed
or a dust collector connected (air speed at
the saw's dust spout Š 20 m/s).
− Wear a dust mask in addition, as not all
saw dust is collected or extracted respec-
tively.
− Empty the dust bag regularly. Wear dust
mask when emptying.
• Put the dust bag onto the dust spout of the mitre
saw (ensure the dust bag's zipper is closed).
• Else connect a dust collector or industrial vac-
uum with a suitable adapter to the saw's dust
spout.
Retractable blade guard installation
The retractable blade guard ensures that only so
much of the saw blade is released as is required for
cutting.
A
The retractable blade guard is an efficient
protection against severe personal injury and
must always be installed during operation.
KS 210 / KS 210 HM Plus
1. Swing sawhead up (into rest position).
2. Loosen left-hand screw (A) approx. five turns.
3. Unscrew right-hand screw (B) fully.
A
4. Guide blade guard over the bare side of the saw
blade.
5. Turn the saw blade guard mounting plate clock-
wise by approx. 90° – the left-hand screw (A)
must be in the oblong hole behind the small
metal lug.
6. Align the mounting plate so that the right-hand
screw (B) can be screwed in.
7. Tighten both screws (A) and (B).
8. Check functioning. To do so swing the safety
lock lever to the side.
− The retractable blade guard must release the
saw blade when the sawhead is swung down,
without touching other parts.
− When lifting the saw head up to its rest posi-
tion the retractable blade guard must auto-
matically cover the saw blade.
Electrical connection
B
Danger! Electrical Hazard. Operate saw in
dry environment only.
Operate saw only on a power source match-
ing the following requirements (see also
"Technical specifications"):
− protected by a residual current operated
device of 30 mA capacity;
− outlets properly earthed.
Position power supply cable so it does not
interfere with the work and is not damaged.
Protect power supply cable from heat,
aggressive liquids and sharp edges.
