Have the drivers been installed correctly?
In order to playback audio data using the UA-1X, the USB Audio Device driver
must be installed. For details on installation and settings, refer to Connections
and driver installation (Windows p. 13, Macintosh p. 23).

If you are using Macintosh OS X, some system sound input/output
settings may cause there to be no sound from the Macintosh speakers.
Select "Internal speakers" in the Output tab. (→ Make Connections and System
Sound Input/Output Settings (p. 28))

Could you have turned down the UA-1X's Headphones volume control?
Check this if you are using headphones.

As soon as you connect the UA-1X to your computer, sound will no longer
be output from the speakers of your computer.
Connect external monitors or headphones to the UA-1X.
If you want sound to be output from your computer speakers, disconnect the
UA-1X from your computer.
Sound is distorted
Could the Input select switch be set to LOW?
The sound may be distorted if the INPUT SELECT switch is set to LOW and you
input an audio signal higher than -10 dBu from the line input jacks. Set the INPUT
SELECT switch to HIGH.
Could you have updated your software while the UA-1X was connected to
your computer?
Disconnect the UA-1X from your computer before you update your software.
The volume level of the instrument connected to LINE IN
is too low.
Could you be using a connection cable that contains a resistor?
Use a connection cable that does not contain a resistor.
