After unpacking the stove - take out the items which are packed
inside it (fi g. 2). These items are ash lip and a door handle knob,
along with a plastic bag of screws for component assembly.
1. Unhook the door. Do not loosen the washer which is under
the lower hinge pin.
2. Remove the top-plate of the stove. This is connected to
the side plates with two collar head screws. In this way it is
easier to move the stove (fi g. 3).
3. Install the ash lip by hooking it onto the front, just below the
door (fi g. 2C).
4. Screw the door handle knob to the front door handle (fi g. 2D).

Choose a Flue Exit Position

The Jøtul F 3 is equipped with a rear heat shield as standard,
and has a cast knockout on the rear and sides, which has to
be removed in order to install the fl ue pipe.
Caution! Remove the door prior to striking the knockout,
to avoid breaking the glass.
Note!
• When choosing the rear- or sidevented fl ue exit position the
internal smoke outlet must be used.
• When choosing the top outlet, it is optional to use either an
internal smoke outlet or the accompanying smoke outlet.
There will be a small gap between the smoke outlet and
the fl ue pipe if the internal smoke outlet is being used. If
wanted, the gap can be covered with a decorative ring (art.
no. 51012200).
Rear vented
1. If the stove is to be installed in a rear-exiting confi guration,
remove the cover plate (fi g. 4A) on the heat shield using
a cutting pliers.
2. Touch up any remaining sharp edges with a fi le.
3. Then, use a heavy mallet and strike hard in the middle of
the knockout.
Side vented
• The knockout can be removed from the inside (fi g. 5).
Top vented
• When assembling the top, the top plate is unscrewed.
Remove the screw which fastens the cross bar (see fi g. 6).
• Place the gasket (Fig. 7 A) on the underside of the smoke
outlet (Fig. 7 B).
• Mount the smoke outlet with use of the supplied screws and
cross bar (Fig. 7 C).
NB. Some enameled models have been prepared for rear
fl ue outlet. Ensure all possible unused fl ue outlets are
suitably blanked off .
Assembling of the fl ue
1. Use a fl ue pipe bend with a sweeping hatch that allows it to
be swept if top exit is choosen.
2. Remove the round 'knock out' in the top of the stove by
removing the screw which fastens the cross bar (see fi g.
6). Then take the fl ue cover off .
3. Using nuts, bolts, washers and spacers (with a spacer
between the hole in the stove and the fl ue pipe), secure
the fl ue pipe into place.
4. Seal the remaining gap around the fl ue pipe with fi re cement.
3.6 Control of functions
When the product is set up, always check the control
functions. These shall move easily and function satisfactorily.
The Jøtul F 3 is equipped with the following controls:
Ignition vent control. Fig. 2A

3.7 Ash removal

Jøtul F 3 is equipped with an outdoor ash pan, which makes it
easy to remove the ashes.
1. Scrape the ash through the grate in the base plate and into
the ash pan. Use something like a glove to grab the handle
on the ash pan and take away the ash.
2. Make sure that the ash pan doesn't fi ll up so high that it
keeps ash from coming through the grate into the pan.
3. Make sure the door to the ash pan is securely shut when
the stove is in use.

4.0 Service
Warning! Any unauthorised change to the product is illegal!
Only use original spare parts!
4.1 Replacing the Air Chamber
Remove the door to avoid any damages to the glass or enamel.
Disconnect the top plate of Jøtul F 3. This is connected to the
side plates with 2 collar head screws - one on each side. See
fi g. 3.
Remove these with the Allen key which are supplied with the
stove.
In the case of side/rear connection, the following
should be done:
1. Unscrew the heat shield (fi g. 4B). It will then be possible
to use a screw driver to keep in place the screw which is
situated there.
2. Unscrew the nuts under the air chamber at the back edge
(towards the back wall), one on each side (fi g. 8).
3. The air chamber is fastened at the front to the side burn
plates with the screws (fi g. 9). These are loosened and the
air chamber can then be lifted out from above.
In the case of top connection, the following should
be done:
• Lift out the ash moulding (the log stopper).
• The air chamber is lifted out through the door opening with
one hand, while at the same time fl ipping in and pulling out
the one of the side burn plates.
The air chamber may now be lowered diagonally and twisted
out via the door opening.
