Possible cause / solution
Is the On / Off switch (4) in position I (ON)?
Is the plug inserted in the socket correctly?
Is the socket defective? Try another plug socket.
Check the fuse of the mains connection.
Has the device overheated? Wait until it has cooled down,
pour in water and try again.
Is the amount of water less than the MIN marking?
Is the On / Off switch (4) blocked?
Is the device being used for the fi rst time? A smell often de-
velops when new devices are fi rst used. The smell should
disappear once the device has been used several times.
Has the kettle been descaled previously? Rinse out the
kettle with clear water.
