5.8.5. Functional Tests
Connect the PC to the float using the RS232 interface cable (refer to section
magnet.
NOTE:
The hydraulic components will function correctly only if the float is in a vertical position
with the antenna up.
Orient the float vertically, and support it to prevent it from falling over during the performance of the
functional tests.
PROVBIO-B has several commands that allow you to test its various functions.
5.8.5.1. Display of technological parameters
This command is used to display:
• Internal vacuum (V).
This vacuum is drawn on the float as one of the final steps of assembly. It should be between 600
and 800 mbar absolute. 700 mbar is recommended.
• Hydraulic tank level (LE).
The tank level will be 0 or 1920 cm3. For this command to report a valid value, the float must be
standing upright. If the level is 1920, use the !RE command to return the level to 0.
• Battery voltage (B).
Normal values for a new battery are 10.8 volts, respectively (see test sheets for limits)
Send the command:

PROVBIO-B will respond with:
<V:845 LE:0 B:10400>.
5.8.5.2. Check of CTD sensor
This command is used to perform an acquisition on the CTD sensor and to display:
• External pressure (P).
• External Temperature (T).
• External Salinity (S).
Send the command:
?S
PROVBIO-B will respond with:
<S P10cBars T22956mdc S0mPSU>
As this sensor is in open-air, only the temperature data should be regarded as accurate.
5.8.5.3. Check of oxygen sensor
This command is used to perform an acquisition on the oxygen sensor.
Send the command:

PROVBIO-B will respond with:
<O2: 274.79 µM/l>[OA]

This command is used to perform an acquisition on the optical sensor.
