Turns the platen.

Clutch
By pulling the platenknob left, the platen is released and can be rotated to any
desired position.

Paper Release Lever
To adjust the position of the paperin the machine,or to removethe paper,move
the lever toward you. To lock the paper in the machine, return the lever to the
original
position.

Carriage
Lock
Lever
Secures the carriage for transportation.

Carriage
Release Lever
Pressingthe lever down enables you to move the carriagefreely between the
margin stops in either direction.
6. Margin
Stops
The marginstopsare usedto set left and right margins. D epress t he marginstops
and slide to the desired position.

Line Space Selector
Three line spacings are provided.With the line spacing setat "1
can be typed,
with
"
4 lines per inch and with ' '2", 3 lines per inch can be
typed. Position "O" enables the platen to be turned freely.

Touch

Lever
Movingthe leverbackwards and forward between+ and —enables you to adjust
the machine for a light or heavy typing touch.
9. Line Space Lever / Carriage Return Lever.
When returning the carriage to the left hand margin by use of this lever, the
paper automatically
advances to the next line.
10. Shift Keys and Shift Lock Key
Capital and upper casecharactersmay be typed repeatedlywhen the shift lock
key is depressed. To return to lower casecharacters, d epressthe shift key on
either
side.
11. Margin Release Key
Depressin

the marginrelease key allowsyou to type beyondthe marginsetting.

Paper Bail Rod
Holds the paper on the platen. When inserting or removing the paper from the
machine, lift it up and backwards. To return to position, move it forward and
downwards.

Paper Support
This supports the paper and keeps it in full view.

14. Paper Guide (on 13" and 15" models only)
Align the left edgeof the paper with the slidable paperguide. You can adjust
the paper position according to the paper size.

Top Cover
To remove the top cover for ribbon changing or cleaning, simultaneously lift
both sides nearest to the platen.

Card
Holder
Holds small pieces of paper or cards in position. Also, by placing a pencil or
ball-point pen in the card holderandmovingthe carriage horizontallyor rotating
the platen, horizontal and vertical lines can be drawn on the paper.

Ribbon
Guide
When the ribbon has completely wound on to one spool, the ribbon mechanism
reverses automatically
and feeds the ribbon to the other spool.

Eraser
Table
Acts as a support for the paperwhen erasingtyped characters.The graduations
on the table help you centralize
the text.
19.
Space Bar
Lightly depressing the space bar provides a space between individual characters
or words. If an alphanumeric key is operated with the space bar depressed,a
half space function
is provided.

Fast Space Bar
Depressing the fast spacebar providesfast continuous forward spacing.

Back Space Key
Depressingthe key will move the carriage backwards one space (equal to one
character).

Ribbon
Selector
Lever
Moving the leverto red provides typing in red; to black for typing in black and
to white for stencil cutting.

Tab
Set / Clear
Lever
To set the tabulator, move the carriage to a required position (i.e. for indentation
or columns, etc.) and then move the lever forward to "T+". To release individual
tabulations, move the carriage to the set tab position and push the lever to ' 'T—
To completely release the total numberof settabs,movethe carriageto right and
left while holding the lever on

Tab Key
When the tab key is depressed, the carriage quickly moves to the next tabulated
position. Hold the tab key down until the carriage stops.
