6.4. Economical heating

With wood, the most ecological and also the most economical heating is done with
a warm but quiet fire. The ash should burn slowly with a red-orange color and
certainly not burn intensely like a forge fire. Such a fire burns quickly and
intensely, so there is not enough time for complete combustion.
Optimal heating:
Heat with the door closed. This results in a hotter fire and therefore better
combustion.
Make sure that the fuel is dry and clean (as described in more detail in Chapter 8).
Make sure that the fuel layer is homogeneous and also that the fire is easily
supplied with air. Place the blocks in a well-distributed, horizontal position on the
ash layer, separated from each other and within a few centimetres of the walls.

6.5. Cleaning the glass

After several hours of heating, a slight deposit may have formed on the inside of
the glass. After cooling down the furnace, remove this deposit with a cleaner for
firebox glass or ceramic cooktops.
! Never clean the glass pane unless it is still warm.
