10. If necessary, repeat this procedure.
Note: If the cleaning process has been completed three times without
satisfactory results, contact technical support for a sensor microcell overhaul.
At the completion of this procedure, refer to the counter and sampler
operation manuals for the proper start-up procedure.

Clean the HRLD 100/400/600 Sensor cell
N O T I C E
If a facility air source is used to clean the sensor, make sure that the facility air
system does not contain suspended oil or produce water droplets that will cause
problems with sensor cleaning.
For HRLD 100, 100HC, 400, 400HC and 600JS Sensors
1. Set the counter power to off.
2. Purge the sensor of any sample and flush the sensor with an
applicable miscible liquid. If necessary, prepare the sensor microcell
for water miscible liquids. The manufacturer recommends filtered
mineral spirits, petroleum ether, Contrad 70 or Stoddard Solvent.
Contact technical support for the applicability of other solvents. Flush
the microcell with alcohol.
3. Remove the sensor from the sampler.
4. Blow either clean dry filtered air or "canned air" through the outlet
port of the sensor for about 15 seconds to dry the microcell. Refer to
Figure 5
on page 10.
5. Make sure that the sensor microcell is not blocked. Refer to
on page 10. If the microcell slit is clogged, refer to
microcell
on page 11.
6. Mix clean water and the Micro

7. Push the white end of the cleaning floss leader through the DRY
outlet side of the sensor microcell until the leader is seen at the inlet.
It may be necessary to turn the floss to get it past the microcell orifice
and out the inlet. Refer to
Figure
8. Pour the mixed Contrad 70 into the sensor port cavity of the flow cell
until the flow cell is full of the solution. Never use the floss dry. A
diluted micro solution or DI water must always be on the floss when it
is used.
Note: Never pull the waxed cleaning floss end through the microcell. The wax
could leave a deposit on the microcell windows which is difficult to remove.
9. Rinse the microcell with clean particle free water.
