CAUTION!
The peak hold mode is NOT reset when the Function Switch is
changed to any other range or function. When selecting either
volt or amp functions, always insure that the HOLD annuncia-
tor is off.

Low Battery Detector

To inform the user of a weak battery, internal circuitry conti-
nuously monitors the battery voltage and will inform the user
by activating the BAT annunciator on the display. When this
annunciator fi rst becomes visible, there is approximately eight
hours of battery life remaining. Replace the battery immedi-
ately or at the end of the work shift. Refer to Section 3.6 for
instructions. Never leave a weak or dead battery in the Meter.
Even leakproof types can leak and damage the Meter.
Controls and Features Identifi cations
Front View
Refer to Figure 1 for a view of the front of the Meter.
1
Clamp - Opens 1.25" (32 mm) to enclose conductors.
2 Centering Marks - Position the conductor within the jaws
at the intersection of the indicated marks as much as
possible in order to meet the specifi ed accuracy.
3 Hand Guard - Provides a protective distance and reduces
the danger of touching the lower jaw opening or the con-
ductor under test.
4 Lever - Opens and closes the clamp jaws.
5 Peak Hold Button - Selects and de-selects the peak hold
function for all amps and volts functions.
6 Function Switch - Used to select the measurement func-
tion.
7 DC/AC Switch - Switches volts and amps from DC to AC.
8 DC Amps Zero Adjust - Used to set the zero reading when
measuring DC amps.
9 COM Jack - The black test lead is plugged into this jack
for all measurements except current (amps). To avoid
electrical shock or instrument damage, do not connect this
jack to any source that is more than 600V with respect to
earth ground.
10 VžHz Jack - The red lead is plugged into this jack for all
measurements except current (amps).
11 Display - The LCD display provides the measurement indi-
cation and other instrument status. See Figure 2 on page
10 for a more detailed view.
