• Test Leads with Screw On Alligator Clips
• This Manual
Product Description
The GCM-620 Clamp On Meter is a handheld battery operated
meter that is designed and tested according to international
safety standards. It provides the basic measurements required
by the electrician: AC and DC voltage, AC and DC current, and
resistance. For troubleshooting variable frequency drives, the
Meter also measures frequency. The AC functions feature a
true RMS detector which provides accurate readings on the
complex waveforms typically encountered in modern motor
control, dimmer, and other phase control circuits. The Meter
also features a peak hold function which holds the highest
reading, useful for determining inrush current, and a diode
test for checking semiconductor junctions.

or user convenience, all voltage, current, and frequency ran-
ges are automatically set to the appropriate range. This makes
use much easier.

Continuity Beeper

The Continuity Beeper provides a means to determine if a
low resistance (continuity) exists between two points without
having to constantly watch the display. It is automatically
activated when in the OHMS range, and provides an audible
beep when continuity is detected. There will be no sound until
the resistance being measured is less than approximately 15
ohms. If a low resistance is measured, then the beeper will
beep and continue to beep until the resistance increases abo-
ve the approximate 15 ohm threshold. The display will indicate
the actual resistance measured.

Peak Hold Mode

It is often desirable to determine the value of a momentary
surge or peak of current or voltage. This is especially true
when trying to determine motor starting current. In these situ-
ations, the PEAK HOLD button can be pressed which will hold
the highest reading on the display. The HOLD annunciator will
be visible on the display indicating that the number present
is the peak hold value. The peak hold mode is available in all
voltage and current functions. To return the Meter to normal
operation, simply press the PEAK HOLD button again so that
the HOLD annunciator is no longer visible in the display.
