OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
OPERATION
EXTENSION CORDS
Use proper extension cords with this pole saw.
Use only extension cords marked for outdoor
use.
Use proper sized cord with this pole saw. Cord
must be heavy enough to carry current needed.
An undersized cord will a voltage drop, loss of
power as well as overheating of the pole saw.
Keep cord away from cutting area. Make sure
cord does not catch on branches or logs during
cutting. Inspect cords often. Replace damaged
cords.
The extension cord my come undone from the
power cord during use. To avoid this, make a
knot with the two cords.
Note: Some models come with power cord long
enough for operation. In this case, extension
cord is not necessary.

SAW CHAIN TENSION ADJUSTMENT

WARNING: Unplug pole saw from power source
before adjusting saw chain tension.
WARNING: Cutting edges on chain are sharp.
Use protective gloves when handling chain.
WARNING: Always maintain proper chain
tension. A loose chain will increase the risk
of kickback. A loose chain may jump out of
guide bar groove. This may injure operator and
damage chain. A loose chain will cause chain,
guide bar, and sprocket to wear rapidly.
Note: For pre-assembled models, the saw chain
tension is properly set at factory. A new chain
will stretch. Check new chain after first few
minutes of operation. Allow chain to cool down.
Readjust chain tension.
Before adjusting chain, loosen the guide bar
knob, making sure it is only finger tight.
Use the hex key to tighten the guide bar nut
(refer to Pic.6)
After chain tension is correct, tighten guide
bar knob firmly. Then check the chain tension
again. The chain is correctly tensioned if it can
be raised by approx.2-3 mm in the centre of the
chain when it is cold. If not, guide bar will move
and loosen chain tension. This will increase the
risk of injury. This can also damage pole saw.
Note: A new chain will stretch. Check new chain
after first few minutes of operation. Allow chain
to cool down. Readjust chain tension.

CHAIN LUBRICATION

The pole saw is supplied without any oil inside it.
Remove the oil tank cover. Fill the oil tank above
the minimum mark. Never use recycled oil or
used oil. Ensure that no dirt gets into the oil
tank.
The saw must never be operated without oil or
if the oil level is below the Minimum mark. If the
saw is operated without oil it will very quickly
suffer damage.
Check the oil level and the chain lubrication
system before you start work.
Check the automatic function of the chain
lubrication system by holding the tip of the
bar against a piece of paper on the floor while
the saw is running. Keep a safe distance. If an
increasing trace of oil appears on the paper,
the automatic lubrication system is working
correctly.
If no trace of oil appears despite the fact that the
oil tank is full, please refer to the section entitled
Troubleshooting.
Always ensure that the oil discharge duct is clear
of impurities. Clean it if necessary using a thin
object (such as a toothpick or matchstick).
CUTTING WITH THE POLE SAW
Connect pole saw to extension cord. Connect
extension cord to power supply.
Use both hands to grip pole saw. Use only
designated grip areas when operating Pole saw.
