The rotary hammer is used to drill through or break resistant materials
(concrete, granite, stone wall, for example) . It means that you can
work more quickly and efficiently than with a traditional drill. It has a
drilling function with a high impact force. The SDS tools with which it
is fitted provide optimal power transmission. The rotary hammer has 3
functions: drilling (rotation); impact (rotation, impact); chipping (im-
pact)
On a rotary hammer, the rotation function can be stopped, to give way to the chipping
function. This means that, using the appropriate accessories, you can for example
smash concrete screed or remove tiling.
The impact force determines how easily the rotary hammer will work. The force is
expressed in joules. The higher it is, the easier it will be to work. Some machines are
fitted with a clutch release, in case the drill blocks.
Depending on the model, the trigger switch can be fitted with a wheel for adjusting
the chuck rotation speed. This function is very useful for drilling fragile materials.
The harder you press the trigger button, the faster the chuck rotates.
Adapt the rotation speed of the chuck to the diameter of the drill:
- Small diameter = high speed
- Large diameter = low speed
The level gauge, if your machine is fitted with one, makes it possible to ensure that
you are working perpendicular to the surface.
The digital display, if your machine has one, shows the preselected settings (for
example, rotation speed)
The lighting function, if your machine has one, makes it more comfortable to work
with in dark environments.
The laser, if your machine has one, produces a beam of light which show you where
the tool will go.
