angle of attack, which always puts the glider nearer the deep stall li-
mit. Added to this, water drops on the top surface have a detrimen-
tal effect on the laminar fl ow of the boundary layer near the leading
edge, which distinctly reduces the maximum lift coeffi cient. If the wet
glider is also being fl own at its lower weight limit there is a further
small effect in increasing the angle of attack, as well as there being a
lower airspeed because of the reduced wing loading.
In order to avoid the risk of deep stall with a wet glider the wing
should be braked as little as possible, and big ears not employed
at all. As a further preventative measure apply moderate (25-40%)
speed bar. These precautions help a little in reducing the angle of at-
tack.
If the glider still goes into deep stall you should only use speed bar to
recover.

Winching

The SIGMA 7 is suitable for winch launching. For a nil wind takeoff
make sure that the wing is laid out in a well-curved shape, even V-
shaped (to avoid the risk of rosetting).

Winching is only approved if:
• the pilot has completed a winching course (only in Germany/
DHV);
• the winch system is certifi ed for use with paragliders;
• the winch operator has been fully trained in winching paragliders.

Aerobatics

The SIGMA 7 was wholly developed as a cross country and ther-
maling paraglider. The wing is not specially strengthened for acro,
or tested for high g loading.
Of course the SIGMA 7 easily lends itself to fl ying simple manoe-
uvres. Please be aware, however, that these manoeuvres put lar-
ge stresses on the material and can hugely shorten the glider's life.
If you do go down this road regular checks of the glider are impe-
rative.

Paramotoring

The SIGMA 7 is not approved for paramotoring.
