This manual applies to the Kongskilde MultiAir MA 4000
blowers and FC/FCE 4000 blowers.
The target group for this manual are operators, (electri-
cal) installers as well as maintenance and service staff.
Description:
The Kongskilde Multiair blower is designed for use with
pneumatic conveying systems, but is also suitable for
other industrial pneumatic solutions.
The blowers are equipped with a closed noise reduc-
tion cabinet, which ensures low noise levels.
The MultiAir FC/FCE models are equipped with a fre-
quency converter, which allows energy efficient adjust-
ment of the blower operating point, with simple control
from the supplied operator panel. The panel can be
moved from the blower to another location if desired.
The blowers are available in versions for clean air (P
blowers) and for material (M blowers).
Material may ONLY be transported through the MultiAir
blower versions intended for material transport!
The scope of these blowers can be:
industries for processing of plastics, for the trans-
port of granules and shredded plastics
bookbinding and printing, for transporting paper
trim
sawmills and joineries, for transporting sawdust
and chips
textile industry, for the transport of yarn waste and
fibres
tanneries, for transporting leather clippings and
shavings
Do not transport corrosive, abrasive or adhesive gases
through the MultiAir blower. The P blowers intake air
may well contain limited amounts of dust and particles,
e.g. from the return air from a separator.
The blower does not meet the requirements of the
ATEX directive, and no air may be transported through
the blower, containing dust and / or gases, that would
otherwise require ATEX zone equipment. The blower
must therefore not be used within environments
containing dust concentrations that may constitute
an explosion hazard.
Intake air temperature must be max. 70 °C.
If attenuation of the intake noise is required, Kongskilde
offers a silencer, see section "Accessories".
Warning notes:
Make sure all guards are in place and properly secured
during operation.
Always disconnect power to the blower prior to repair and
maintenance. The main switch must be switched off and
locked to ensure the blower cannot be started in error.
Never put tools or any body parts into the blower's in-
take or outlet while the blower is running. Serious injury
or death may occur if contact is made with the blowers
rotor.
The blower should be installed in an accessible location
for maintenance and repair.
The working area around the blower should be clear
and free from trip hazards.
Make sure to have adequate lighting when working on
the blower.
The blower doors are heavy - make sure their gas
dampers and locking devices are inspected regularly -
should a door fall down or pop up unintentionally, there
is danger of personal injury.
Ensure that all tools and body part are clear of the
doors edges whilst opening or closing. Be cautious of
head injury, when the doors are closed, there may be
sharp edges on the doors.
To prevent accidental contact with the impeller, the pip-
ing for exhaust air, and supply air MUST be fixed using
bolt type flange clamps. Hence, tools MUST be used
for separating all piping between the blower and the
connected machines!
In case there is no pipe connection mounted to the
inlet, a fixed protective grid must be installed!
EU-directive 2006/42/EC (Machinery Directive) states,
it is not permissible for any unauthorized personnel to
gain access to rotating parts. Should quick release type
flange clamps be installed, exposure to the hazardous
area may be gained by unauthorized personnel. The
risk of being sucked onto the blowers inlet should also
be observed.
The blower speed is fully adjustable and controlled from
the operator panel (on FC models). In order not to over-
load the rotor and motor, the blower speed can not be
set higher than the peak design specification. Changing
the electrical equipment in order to increase the maxi-
mum blower speed is not permitted.
Always use suitable eye protection when working close
to the air outlet of the blower. Particles may be blown
from the air outlet of the blower, causing eye damage.
The blower can move large volumes of air and can
therefore generate high levels of noise. If working
around the blower with open doors during operation,
hearing protection must be worn. Likewise, it must be
ensured that the connected piping is suitably insulated
acoustically; see section "Installation".
If any abnormal vibration or noise are observed the
blower must be stopped immediately and qualified as-
sistance requested.
