OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
Item no. 672686 / Version 05/12
WIRELESS WEATHER STATION EFWS 801
INTENDED USE
The product displays the inside and outside temperature and the inside and outside
humidity as well as the date and time of the day. By means of the inbuilt DCF-receiver,
the time of day and the date can be set automatically and, of course, manually.
The weather station also shows a weather forecast for the next 24 hours using sym-
bols, air pressure for the last 12 hours and the current moon phase as well as the
comfort indicator. An alarm function is also integrated.
The outdoor sensor included shows temperature and humidity in its display.
Weather station and outdoor sensor are operated with batteries.
Always observe the safety instructions and all other information included in these
operating instructions.

tions of the product are not permitted. Never dismantle the product.
-
The product is not a toy and should be kept out of the reach of children. It should
be operated out of the reach of children.
-
The weather station is intended for use only in dry, indoor locations.
-
The outdoor sensor is suitable for use in sheltered outdoor areas (e.g. under a
roof overhang). Never dip the outdoor sensor in or under water; this may destroy
it.
-
If the product is brought from a cold into a warm room (e.g. during transport),
condensation may develop. This could damage the product.
Wait until the product has reached room temperature before using it. This may
take several hours.
-
Do not leave the packaging materials unattended. They may become dangerous
playthings for children.
-
Handle the product with care; it can be damaged by impacts, blows, or accidental
drops, even from a low height.
NOTES ON BATTERIES AND RECHARGEABLE
BATTERIES
-
Batteries/rechargeable batteries do not belong in the hands of children.
-
Do not leave batteries/rechargeable batteries lying around; there is a risk that
they could be swallowed by children or pets. If swallowed, consult a doctor im-
mediately.
-
Leaking or damaged batteries/rechargeable batteries in contact with the skin
can cause acid burns, therefore, use suitable protective gloves.
-
Batteries/rechargeable batteries must not be short-circuited, opened or thrown
into a fi re. There is a risk of explosion!
-
Do not recharge normal, non-rechargeable batteries, risk of explosion! Only
charge rechargeable batteries that are intended for this purpose; use suitable
rechargeable battery chargers.
-
Never mix standard batteries with rechargeable batteries, use either standard
batteries or rechargeable batteries.
-
Do not mix batteries/rechargeable batteries with different charge levels (e. g. full
and half-full batteries/rechargeable batteries).
-
Always replace the complete set of batteries/rechargeable batteries.
-
Check that the polarity is correct when inserting the batteries/rechargeable bat-
teries (pay attention to plus/+ and minus/-).
-
If you wish to use rechargeable batteries please note that the operating time will
decrease due to lower output voltage (batteries = 1.5V, rechargeable batteries
=1.2V). Moreover, rechargeable batteries are more temperature-sensitive than
normal ones.
 
Therefore, we recommend that you use high-quality alkaline batteries to
ensure long-lasting and reliable operation.
START-UP
a) Outdoor sensor
-
Open the battery compartment of the outside sensor by pushing its cover down-
wards.
-
Select a transmission channel using the sliding switch before inserting the
batteries.
 
The weather station can display data from up to 3 outside sensors; one out-
side sensor is included in the delivery, up to 2 sensors can be ordered as
accessories.
Each outside sensor must be set to a different transmission channel.
-
Insert two Micro/AAA batteries, with the correct polarity (observe +/Plus and -/
Minus). You will fi nd the corresponding illustration in the battery compartment.
After inserting the batteries, all display segments will light up briefl y; then
the measured values for temperature and humidity as well as the set channel
number are shown.
-
If desired, you can toggle between the temperature units °C and °F using the
button "C/F".
-
If only unintelligible symbols are shown in the display, press the "RESET" button
inside the battery compartment briefl y or remove the batteries for a few sec-
onds.
-
The red LED on the front of the outside sensor fl ashes briefl y, if data are trans-
mitted.
-
Close the battery compartment.
b) Weather station
-
Open the battery compartment on the underside of the weather station.
-
Insert three AA/Mignon batteries with the correct polarity (observe +/Plus and -/
Minus). You will fi nd the corresponding illustration in the battery compartment.
After inserting the batteries, all display symbols will light up briefl y and the dis-
play illumination will be activated for a few seconds.
-
Close the battery compartment.
-
If only unintelligible symbols are shown in the display, press the "RESET" button
on the backside of the weather station briefl y (e.g. with a tooth pick) or remove
the batteries for a few seconds.
-
The weather station will attempt to detect available outside sensors for approx.
3 minutes; the radio symbol "
-
Then the weather station will attempt to receive the DCF signal; the radio tower
symbol "
" will fl ash at the right-hand side above the time.
-
Do not place the weather station next to electronic devices, metal parts, cables
and so on. Bad reception can also be expected with metallised insulating glass
windows, reinforced concrete constructions, coated special wallpaper or in cellar
rooms.
-
The recognition and interpretation of the DCF signal can take 3 - 7 minutes. Do
not move the weather station during that time. Do not use any buttons.
When the weather station has read the DCF signal correctly, the current time of
the day and the date will be displayed at the lower right of the display and the
radio tower symbol stops fl ashing. During summer, "DST" (= "Daylight Saving
Time") is shown below the radio tower signal.
-
The DCF signal is a signal which is broad-
cast from a sender in Mainfl ingen (near
Frankfurt am Main).
Its range is up to 1500 km and, under ideal
reception conditions, even up to 2000 km.
The DCF signal contains, among others, the
exact time of day (accuracy is theoretically
1 second in 1 million years!) and the date.
This means there is no complicated manual
setting needed for summer and winter time.
-
The synchronisation of the weather station with the DCF signal is done daily at
01:00, 02:00, 03:00, 04:00 and 05:00. One successful reception attempt per day
is enough to keep the deviation of the internal quartz clock below one second.
 
If there still is no current time shown in the weather station's display after 5
minutes, change the location of the weather station.
Press the "WAVE" button for approx. 3 seconds in order to restart the DCF
reception attempt.
You can also wait for a day, allowing the weather station to attempt to detect
the DCF signal during the night, since the DCF signal reception is better
then.
Alternatively, the time and date can be set manually on the weather station.
" will fl ash in the lower left of the display.
