DESCRIPTION
BIOCERA-VET® BONE SURGERY Ready To Use (BIO-
CERA-VET® BS RTU) is a synthetic, biocompatible, osteo-
conductive and bioresorbable bone substitute material for filling
non-load-bearing bone defects. The material is applied directly
to the bone defect from the syringe or with a cannula without any
further preparation.
BIOCERA-VET® BS RTU is a sterile single-use product,
available in 2 different dosage forms (1 cc and 3 cc).
Thanks to its high injectability and self-setting (hardening), BIO-
CERA-VET® BS RTU is easy and intuitive to use.
COMPOSITION
BIOCERA-VET® BS RTU is a mineral bone cement composed
of synthetic calcium and phosphate salts finely dispersed in a
biocompatible carrier liquid made from short-chain triglycerides
(caprylic/capric triglycerides) as well as two emulsifiers (polyoxyl
35 castor oil and cetyl phosphate). Caprylic/capric triglycerides
and polyoxyl 35 castor oil are made from plant-based raw mate-
rials.
The setting reaction of BIOCERA-VET® BS RTU starts after ap-
plication upon contact with an aqueous solution, such as body
fluid. BIOCERA-VET® BS RTU sets in situ to a microcrystalline,
calcium-deficient hydroxyapatite (CDHA) and alpha-tricalcium
phosphate (α-TCP), which are the main phases. The minor
phase consists of calcium hydrogen phosphate (monetite) and
calcium carbonate (calcite). The chemical composition and
crystalline structure of the final reaction product (CDHA) corres-
ponds largely to the mineral components of natural bone.
BIOCERA-VET® BS RTU does not contain any substances of
animal origin, added preservatives or pharmacologically active
agents. A volume of 1 cc BIOCERA-VET® BS RTU contains ap-
prox. 24 mg potassium in the form of K2HPO4 (see dosage and
application).

INDICATIONS
BIOCERA-VET® BS RTU is a self-setting, synthetic bone sub-
stitute material for filling non-infected bone defects in compa-
nion animals.
TARGET SPECIES
BIOCERA-VET® BS RTU is intended for bone void filling as
add-on of bone surgeries in dogs and cats.
