Dangers from Batteries
Batteries can be deadly if swallowed. Therefore keep batteries and the device out
of the reach of small children. If a battery is swallowed, seek medical assistance
immediately.
Before inserting the batteries, check whether the contacts in the device and on the
batteries are clean; clean them if necessary.
Use only the battery type specifi ed in the technical data. Use high-performance al-
kaline batteries.
Always replace all the batteries at the same time. Do not use batteries of different
types or brands, or batteries with different capacities. When replacing batteries, note
the correct polarity (+ / –).
Take the batteries out of the device when they are discharged or if the device is not
going to be used for a prolonged period. This will prevent damage that might occur
if a battery leaks.
Should a battery have leaked, do not allow your skin, eyes and mucous membranes
to come into contact with the battery acid. If you touch battery acid, rinse the affected
sites with abundant fresh water immediately and contact a doctor as soon as possi-
ble.
Remove dead batteries from the device immediately. Clean all contacts before put-
ting new batteries in the device.
The batteries must not be recharged or reactivated by other means, dismantled,
thrown into a fi re, immersed in fl uids, or short-circuited.

Danger of Electric Shock

Use and store the device only in closed rooms. Do not operate the device in rooms
with high humidity.
Should the device fall into water, switch off the power supply immediately. Do not at-
tempt to pull the device out of the water while it is still connected to the mains power!
Have the device checked in a specialist workshop before using it again.
Never touch the device, mains cable or mains adapter with wet hands when these
components are connected to the mains power.
The mains adapter should only be connected to a plug socket that has been properly
installed. The socket must also be readily accessible after connection. The mains
voltage must match the technical data of the mains adapter. Only use suitable exten-
sion cables whose technical data is the same as that of the mains adapter (see the
"Technical Data" chapter).
The device must be switched off when inserting or removing the mains adapter.
Remove the mains adapter if a fault occurs during operation or before a thunder-
storm.
Always pull the mains adapter and never the cable.
Make sure that the mains cable is not squashed, bent or laid over sharp edges and
does not come into contact with hot surfaces.
