Manual Gas inflation
For manual gas inflation pull on the firing lanyard for the gas to inflate the
lifejacket.
Oral Top up
The oral tube may be used to top up the lifejacket if required. Remove cap and
blow into mouth piece. Never orally inflate the lifejacket and then the gas, this
will lead to over pressure of the lifejacket and cause irreparable damage.
Whistle
A whistle is attached to attract attention.
Light
A light (optional) is fitted and activated automatically on water entry.
Instructions for Use
Train yourself in the use of this device. Before use practice donning and
using the lifejacket to ensure compatibility with additional clothing worn (for
automatic model remove water sensing element prior to test). After testing
allow the lifejacket to air dry thoroughly and remember to refit the
automatic element. THIS IS NOT A LIFEJACKET UNTIL FULLY
INFLATED. Full performance may not be achieved using waterproof clothing
or in other circumstances. Prior to use you should ensure there is no damage to
the lifejacket and the inflation system is fully functional including a check that
the gas cylinder has not been fired and its screwed in tightly to the firing head.
IMPORTANT OVER A PERIOD OF TIME THE GAS CYLINDER MAY WORK LOOSE,
IF THE CYLINDER IS LOOSE IT WILL NOT INFLATE THE LIFEJACKET, CHECK
BEFORE EVERY USE THAT THE CYLINDER IS TIGHTLY SCREWED IN.
Donning (fig 1)
Put on like a waistcoat and secure the buckle. Adjust the belt by threading
the webbing through the adjuster buckle. The belt should be a tight but
comfortable fit. Always wear the lifejacket as the outer most layer. Never wear
the lifejacket under any other garment or foul weather clothing. This lifejacket
is fitted with a crutch strap. Never use the lifejacket without correctly adjusting
and securely fitting the crutch strap.
Rearming (fig 2)
Only rearm using the manufacturers 60Grm CO2 rearming kit.
1, deflate the lung by holding the tag on the oral tube cap against the oral
valve. Roll the lifejacket up tightly to expel the air, repeat this process several
times to ensure complete deflation. 2, if manually fired, push the firing lever
back into position and secure with plastic clip (clip not needed on Pro sensor
model). 3, if automatically fired, unscrew the water sensing element and
replace with new. 4, Remove used gas cylinder and screw new cylinder back in
place, hand tight. If any green indicators are missing you must rearm with new
kit. IMPORTANT: failure to follow the rearming process will cause accidental
activation of the gas cylinder.
FOR HAMMAR MA1 MODEL REFER TO ENCLOSED RELVANT HANDBOOK.
Care & Maintenance
In addition to the lifejacket service, you should also look after and maintain
the condition of your lifejacket. Do not use as a cushion. Do not operate CO2
mechanism after oral inflation. Check lung maintains pressure by orally inflating
and leaving overnight, if any loss occurs, refer to service agent. Never attempt
repairs yourself. Check CO2 cylinder has not been punctured. To clean the
lifejacket rinse in fresh water only (remove water sensing element first) allow to
air dry thoroughly before refitting. Make sure the lung is fully deflated before
repacking. Store in a dry well-ventilated environment.
