SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

Hu-Friedy & EMS and the distributor of this product accept no liability for direct or consequential injury
or damage resulting from improper use, arising in particular through non-observance of the operating
instructions, or improper preparation and maintenance.
Contraindication: ultrasonic oscillations may prevent cardiac pace makers and defi brillators from
functioning properly. Therefore, we recommend that patients with a cardiac pace maker or a defi brillator
should not be treated with this product.
Use for the intended purpose only. Before using the product, make sure the operating instructions
have been carefully studied. This also applies to any equipment used with this product. Failure to observe
the operating instructions may result in the patient or user suffering serious injury or the product being
damaged.
Risk of explosion: do not use this product in the presence of infl ammable anaesthetics or gases.
This product must be used only by trained and qualifi ed personnel.
Before each use, clean, disinfect and sterilize the different pieces and accessories of this product.
Please refer to the information provided in the operating instructions. Non-sterile pieces and accessories
may cause bacterial or viral infections.
Use only the powder recommended by Hu-Friedy & EMS for the subgingival application when the
PERIO-FLOW handpiece is connected to the unit. Any other powder could cause premature wear of the
nozzle and would consequently increase the risk of emphysema and damage to the unenameled dentine.
The powders provided by Hu-Friedy & EMS are specially designed for use with the unit. Do not use
powders from other manufacturers as this could damage the unit or could adversely affect its effi ciency.
